Yep, something is up with CFTO digital- my Sammy went back to 40.4 and no PSIP; signal strength seems ordinary.

My only problem with CFTO this week is crappy reception. Usually it's rock solid but this week it has been a glitchfest. Using hdhomerun tuners.

Is CITY being bumped off the tower PT?

Looking at the newly updated TVfool data, I see that CITY is no longer moving to 51, but to 44 while CJMT leaves 44 for 51.

It makes no sense to pay to transfer all 3 stations at the deadline (CFMT, CJMT and CITY), when they only need to transfer CFMT & CITY, and leave CJMT where it is. The only way it seems to make sense, is if CJMT is taking CITY TVs spot on the CN tower (51 is close enough to 53 to reuse current HW I would think), while CITY gets moved to BMO tower.

Yes I noticed that a while back ON Jons' list > I wonder why the change up? This is bad for me as I have co channel on 44 here. Rather have CITY than one of the ONMI's I email OMNI last year and they indicated 44 was firm after transition.

They're all rogers-owned, so it's not really money out of pocket in the grand scheme of things.
Instead of CITY taking the 51, it seems they decided to give that to CJMT
Probably because 44 gives better reception for people, and rogers actually receives money for CITY (and probably not much from the OMNI's?)

Unless someone gets an official response (besides "antenna? aren't those shut down already?" ) we're not really going to know.

Maybe its because channel 51 is expected to transmit from the top of the CN Tower which is much higher than the top of First Canadian Place and CJMT caters to the Asian language market which has a substantial number of potential viewers north of Steeles avenue where the terrain level drops behind the east/west ridge. Perhaps the Rogers people actually want to serve their market and actually are professionals who know what they are doing. Hard to believe for some, but possibly true.

CFTO-Dt

Showing 40.1 ,no guide data and 1 hour out of time. The way the Toronto digital stations currently operate come August I would expect many problems since it takes many years to get PSIP working properly.Funny how the Buffalo stations can do this much better.

Attic CM 4248 at Buffalo,M4 at Buffalo.VHF yagis at Toronto .

44-1 is one of my strongest signals even at 50+ km with the antenna facing WGRZ.

44-1 is even stronger than 20-1 and 40-1. I am looking forward to uncompressed CITY
since I can not receive 53-1.

My Samsung just did this for the first time today at 5pm.

It was 9-1 this morning and now 40-4?

What is the language used? Does it say they are going to cease broadcasting?

Basically "watch for all-news programming starting right here on April 18" (I'm paraphrasing, but that's the gist of it). Nothing regarding the cessation of broadcasting over the air.

ATTENTION CANADIANS: a new all-news channel is coming on April 18. Sun News Network. Hard News by day. Straight Talk by night. Right here on this channel. Stay tuned!
