Sad news for Calgary. I hope people in the City of Calgary complain and get their MPs involved.

Up here in Edmonton CTV and Global are both not operational ATM. Happened sometime during the early hours of the morning. Lightning perhaps??

*Edit* Oh, just came back on as I posted this.

CityTV Calgary appears to have been off the air since sometime last night. Can anyone else confirm?

FYI I live in the SE (just north of Prestwick) and signal strength is typically 90%+ through my Sony TV.

Thanks,
Visor

Confirmed: off the air in Tuscany. But still showing 100% signal strength.

I just called their main switchboard and they are working on the problem. As the woman I talked to said with a laugh "oh yes, we've been getting calls all morning, they're WELL aware of the problem!"

Thumbs up CBRT-DT Calgary – Technical change [approved]

Approval can be found here: http://crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2012/2012-445.htm
With radio going into ratings right away and winter approaching, I doubt this will be finished this year.

Wow great news for Calgary. Nice to see some OTA news been pretty quiet as of late. I guess everyone is sitting back and enjoying their free OTA HDTV signals!

CFRN

Hi,

I've been having reception issue with CFRN the last couple of days. Signal meter showing mid 50's whereas it is normally low 80s. Global broadcasting from the same tower is fine. Anyone else having issues?

CBRT-DT Calgary

Very good news - not sure - as go to 507 Kw Max ERP, why they didn't go to

the limit of 1 MW. The present new transmitter will be 22 Kw, it would require

2 of them and a backup antenna - like they do in the UK.

I heard the they were going to do the work this summer but remember

that they are also relocating the CBC Radio 1010 transmitter

site. Lots to do!.

CBC calgary ETA ?

Do you think they will have this done before December 2012?

This would be a nice gift for everyone.

I just got my hands on a channel master 7778 preamp, compression RG6 coax connectors and my custom build 39 element uhf 5 antenna array.

On a good signal day it will pick up Calgary DX till 1PM in north Red Deer.

I get CBC on 9-1, it will be interesting to see what the CBC transmitter upgrade will do to my CBC signal quality.

CBRT-DT signal boost.

The present Max ERP is 23.5 Kw - the new Max ERP will be 507 Kw. This increase is of the order
of 20 times the power. In your location, this may produce over 2 times the field strength.
On the days that you recieve it, there should be noticably more signal and so improved quality
(less pixelation and dropout).

I heard that the new service was supposed to begin this summer but I know that the installation
work schedule is behind. I just don't know by how much. I do imagine that the new service will
start before the end of the year. I will try to find out more exactly.

City TV Lethbridge

Is anyone else having trouble with city tv in lethbridge. It was great for a while but now the resolution has gone down, PSIP EPG info is gone. Signal strength is still good but my RCA converter box won't even show a picture. The other two tv's still do, but it's small. I've emailed them twice to no avail. I've picked them up a few times when the weather was hot and we had ducting from calgary in the morning and it is still good from that transmitter.

CITY and CTV (13.1) appear to have shut down their transmitters because of the grass fire yesterday - both are in the fire area.

Good news! on the 11'oclock news it was announced that the 6'oclock news today would be showing Calgary news to allow the crew to upgrade to HD. Finally! Probably the last station in Canada to finally drop HD.

CITY TV Lethbridge is back

The fire apparently interrupted power to the ctv and citytv lethbridge transmitter sites for a couple days, and smoked my house up terribly. I think ctv ran on their generator for a day or more; city did not and the radio stations with transmitters at those towers had trouble, too. The tower strobes were offline for 2 days, as well. However, the good news is that when things came back online CITY TV (RF 46) is back to full resolution with PSIP info again. Tough way to get it back to normal, though.
