KVOS-DT update: going live in mid-June

I spoke to KVOS and I was told the transmitter is now installed and the time table is mid June for broadcasting.

Today, with my CM4228 still pointed at Mt. Seymour and its back lobe blocked off by big red cedars I'm still seeing KVOS-DT's digital carrier quite strongly on 35.1 but cannot get a lock - it locks only for a split second but the diagnostics say there are about 400 errors/sec. so it cannot lock onto it.

I'll maybe play around with aiming today to see if I can come up with a solution. I have my old Delhi 4-bay bowtie reflector in the garage so if the rain stops I might try some new aiming strategies.

Without a lock I'm only seeing KVOS-DT on 35.1 and not on 12.1, so are they not remapping?

Smile kvos-dt up and running

Today the station turned on they said it will still be off and on for the next day or two as they tune it and replace a certian part that is over heating. Last night they were up for about 15mins testing.

I think emails or phone calls to them letting them know how the signal is coming would be appreciated by them

I'll have to give it a try tonight. I'm doubtful that I'll be able to get a signal without re-aiming my silver sensor clone away from mount seymour.

I am in an extremely lousy location, almost at sea level in North Vancouver but I DO receive CBC and CTV well. Call me greedy or whatever, I would love to have the ability to receive more! At the present time, I am getting only 'burps' on channel 19 (KBCB) when my 4228 is oriented to the south east, but not strong enough to lock onto the signal. Does anyone know the details regarding KVOS-DT's transmitter.....ie: is the ERP any higher and is the transmitter nearby or in a different locale?

The new KVOS transmiter is on the same location as the KBCB on Orcas Island as far as the ERP I haven't seen any numbers yet as this is a new location and the testing phase has just begun.

Thanks, DanBCMan! I am now getting a watchable signal with few dropouts...perhaps with a little tinkering, I can eliminate those, too! Frankly, I am surprised that I am getting anything from that direction as there is much elevation in the land in between.

I am getting 98% solid signal and very low AGC.

I fear this level of the KVOS signal may affect my plans to use a preamp to get the Sea Tac stations.
