WPTZ's sister station WNNE will be shutting down as part of the American spectrum auction process. (It was essentially a repeater of WPTZ with separate advertising)
It's license will be covered by being a sub-channel of WPTZ, presumably with different advertising. Perhaps running CW on 31.1 is a preparation for that.

I'm hearing that certain TV sets are rebooting when tuned to CIVM-DT. Can someone capture a TSReader HTML Export so I can look and see what's wrong with it? (Then maybe either I or the complainant can contact the station and see about getting it fixed.)

I might be imagining things, but I could have sworn I saw an add on WCAX a couple of weeks ago advertizing a new subchannel coming on 3.4. I've rescanned a few times over the month and haven't picked up any new subchannels. Has anyone else seen anything on this?

Yep, a new sub-channel just appeared today, on February 28, 2019 (or earlier, I may have missed it). Here is what is now available:

3.1 - WCAX (HD)
3.2 - Movies!
3.3 - Ion Television
3.4 - Start TV

It's on WCAX as channel 3.4, and called Start TV. To quote Wikipedia, it's a channel "with a focus on dramas, police and legal procedurals". Isn't that exactly what Ion airs on 3.3, police and crime dramas? Strange they'd choose a network with nearly identical type of programming, I would've preferred comedy, movies or vintage TV shows.

Still anxiously waiting for WYCI to be reachable in Montreal later this year, or by early 2020. Any updates on that?

I haven't heard anything new on WYCI. I get it on my basic cable that comes 'free' with my Internet package, so I can confirm it still exists, at least.

I now see 3.4 - StartTV as well. I'm curious which subchannel they stole bandwidth from to add this, granted they didn't steal much based on the picture quality

I reported the change to SchedulesDirect so they can add the new subchannel to their listings.

Odd, WCAX stopped broadcasting on channel 3.4 for the past couple of days. In fact I think it's been removed entirely, I don't even get PSIP information now.

Anyone else getting it? Are they having technical difficulties, or have they changed their mind about adding this new sub-channel?

How strange. I've lost 3.4, as well.

Looks like StartTV is back on WCAX 3.4. I had to do a rescan, as the old mapping didn't work.

Edit: Perhaps this was caused by switching to 16x9 from 4x3.

When 3.4 dropped from my lineup last week, I wrote the station and they responded (very quickly!) saying that there was a conflict betwee the device bringing them 3.4 and the device for 3.1 so they were shutting 3.4 down until they could get new equipment.

Looks like they're all set now.
