This will be called the WINDtab+ and there are no exact details but instead of the limited $150 it’s now going to be available up to to $400 off any phone, plus you’ll also be able to “Tab up” when you want to get a newer phone down the line.
Rumour is that at the end of three years, if your account is in good standing the balance of your WindTab+ will be wiped. This would basically make the WindTab+ a three-year contract, but with a transparent buyout fee (the remaining balance on the phone subsidy). Wind had reportedly been looking at ways to further subsidize devices, as many customers seemed interested in high-end smartphones but uninterested in the high costs attached.
In anticipation of back to school, Wind will also be launching a new promotional plan which will include unlimited local talk, text, and data for $29/month. It's unclear whether this will be a temporary price, or a permanent plan.
In addition, Wind will be launching service in Kitchener-Waterloo in time for the new school year. Also imminent is Barrie, Cambridge, Guelph, St. Catharines, Niagara, Fort Erie, and Welland.
