I agree Hugh, that is a good option, not one that will work in my case but still I think it is better that than dropping $29.95 for a Card. I had picked up a second Card on not long after my first purchase, for Mrs Pinza, glad I did now.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I was wondering if anyone has been able to use the SMS option recently?

As with the previous poster, there was no SMS message received on my SpeakOut (Rogers) phone when I tried to activate the service today.

I'm on Petro-Canada Mobility (Rogers network) and have tried several times to activate the SMS way but I never receive the message either. I would pay $5 for the card but not $30, but would really rather do it by SMS.

I agree that $30 is a little steep but still, it is a small price to pay for the added security. Don't forget that it is NOT $30 per year but a one off payment.

I would pay the $30 if I needed another card.

I wonder how long the battery in my current card will last... I know it won't be forever and I'm thinking that I will not be forking over $30 to them when it does go belly up.

That will depend on how often it is used.

Can I order a replacement security key?

Yes. You can order a new security key for $5. If your security key has stopped working, please contact Customer Service.
Just found that on the Paypal website, so Don't Panic.

Looking into getting one. The key is $29.95 though. I guess it's one of those things that's worth it long term.

It certainly is in my opinion, although I have to admit mine was only $5......

I use Paypal a lot, about 250 transactions this year so the added cost, even at $29.95, would be worth it for the peace of mind.

I have A PayPal account I don't recall paying for anything for this "Key"?

I don't even think I have one to be honest? I basically have one subscription to a group I'm in and its automatically deducted from my credit card?

Well if you don't have one, that is why you never paid for it.......

I guess I was lucky in my bad luck. I had ordered one, it got lost in the mail, they sent a replacement and 2 months later, I got the original key as well. They both are used. One in my walet for purchases "on the road" and one beside my computer....which is not good. It's like asking a drug addict to keep an eye on your medicine cabinet. Always something there on EBay calling me by my name to bid on it. Or maybe its just voices in my head??!!

But Danster, unless you have the Paypal Password written on the Card, or stored on your Computer, the account is still secure..... It requires the Password and the Card generated Number to allow access to your Paypal account.

This thread has become quite a comedy of errors.

Myself, I am still waiting for the SMS message from when I tried to activate the SMS option...six weeks ago.
