Optical Splitter? Adaptor?

Hope someone can help me. This post can be moved cause I only posted here because my Nextbox 3 has no Digital Audio Out(coaxial)

My AV Stereo Receiver has 2 Optical and 1 Coaxial connections. One of the Optical is losing sound once in awhile for 1 second. My question is : Is there an adapter that will let me use 2 Optical to the 1 working one in my receiver or an adapter that will convert the Optical connection to the Coaxial connection on my Receiver?

Which one of these would be the cheapest?

Thank you for all the help.

If you search online for optical splitter, you should find what you need, you just use it in reverse as a "combiner". Be aware that some components send a signal even when off, so, for example, if you use a DVD player and a STB, the STB may always send a signal so you'll never hear the DVD player. Depends on the equipment.

You can also purchase optical audio switches.

You can also purchase an "optical to coaxial converter" - use a web search for various models.

I assume this has been checked by swapping cable and devices to make sure it is the receiver and not the cable or source device.

I wouldn't try to combine two signals. As 57 says it won't work with some devices and could cause unpredictable results with any devices.

As 57 said, a 'Optical to Coaxial Digital Audio Converter' may be what you want. There are some on Amazon.ca for $15-$30, including shipping. If possible, I would buy a well known brand such as Cables-To-Go or Monoprice.

A remote controlled 'Optical Digital Audio Switch' would also do the job. Several are available in the same price range.

You need the opposite. Use the search terms I previously provided.

Yep, that or something similar. Just make sure you do the checks outlined in post 3 first so you're not wasting money.

Thank you, yes I have changed cables and different sources to that Optical connection, even exchanged the Nextbox 3. It's always that connection. I will order that converter and let everyone know how it works out. Can always return it if it's not working.

If you are renting the Netbox 3, may be you can ask for a 4K pvr with the reason that you need optical sound out. I see that my 4K pvr has the optical out.
