Telus iPad Data Sharing Questions

Already asked this on RFD but I'm looking for as much info on it I can get:

I have a bunch of questions about Telus and their data sharing with the new iPad. I am considering switching my cell plan to a 6GB data plan and want to share the data with the iPad. But all I am reading is that this can only be done by tethering and using my iPhone as a hotspot, which I don't want to do because I won't have the iPad and my iPhone close to each other all the time (ie. Girlfriend takes the iPad to work, etc)

So my question is can I share the data without using the hotspot feature? Can I just go buy or get a second Telus SIM card and throw it into the iPad so it's hooked up to my account?

Any advice is appreciated, thx.

my understanding after talking to Telus is that the currently do not support sharing your data plan between iPhone and iPad other than by using your iPhone as a "personal hotspot".
