Thumbs down My5/My10 Friends & Family feature ending

For anyone on old plans, as per https://www.rogers.com/customer/supp...y5-my10-ending these "unlimited" calling features will be ending in March. The kicker is there will not be a corresponding rate reduction.

I've long suspected Rogers would eventually discontinue these plans as I suspect they aren't as profitable as the current plans.

Personally, I've had to contact Rogers almost every month to point out cases where they've charged me long distance for calls to numbers on My10.

I'm open to suggestions for replacement plans - both low usage and "unlimited" (my son is away at college and likes calling his grandmother).

Shaw's Freedom offers pretty good all-you-can-eat plans I'm paying $40 for data, unlimited calls and texts.
Spouse has Telus's Public Mobile $13 for 300 minutes voice + unlimited texts + small chunk of data.
Both require bring your own device (BYOD).

Former Rogers VIP, now Bell Fibe, Sony KDL40W3000, BDPS350, Philips Streamium NP2500 (2). DS209 NAS, Playbook

When I bought my Pixel 2, 2 years ago, no matter how hard they tried the Rogers people couldn't find a plan that wouldn't cost me more, over 2 years, than buying my phone outright and keeping my existing plan. I don't expect that has changed.

However, I do have a Fongo account, which provides free long distance within Canada.

I haven't lost my mind. It's around here...somewhere...
