MTS installation question

Does anyone know how MTS installs their service? If I have MTS internet, does the set-top-box have to be located with the computer? I ask because my sisters installation has the STB located by the computer, which is in a completly different room than the TV. There is a tiny antenna located at the back of the TV which receives signals from the STB. I'm planning on going with their new PVR once it's available in Wpg. Thanks in advance.

I think MTS usually installs the STB with the "main" TV. Two advantages come to mind. You can run S-video and/or RCA cables for better quality video and audio. Also if you have a VCR you can control it from the STB with an IR blaster for scheduled recordings.

Any additional TVs will be fed from the STB using existing coax cable. The "tiny antenna" is for the RF remotes used for the secondary TVs.

MTS will run Cat-5 cable from the STB to the computer for ethernet if required.

You have the choice of having the STB located at your computer, or your "main TV". I had one, and then the other when I was with MTS TV. What you need to make sure to do is request that they install a "ethernet jack" if you locate the box beside your main TV (which is what I suggest to do), rather than just have them run a bunch of cable. So much cleaner!
