National Post: Why BCE Inc should buy MTS

Seen this morning:

Why BCE Inc should buy Manitoba Telecom Services Inc

Someone on Twitter "Is there currently a deal on table for MTS to sell Allstream ? or just TD speculation to make their prediction of BCE buying MTS ?"

Thoughts?

Authorized Service Provider (Contractor) for MTS Allstream. Any views expressed are my own.

Sounds more like the TD analyst did a poor job producing the report. It's pretty typical to see regular stories pop up about someone buying MTS, this doesn't seem to have any weight to it.

You may have found it somewhat confusing because the story is dated Sept 21.
And yes, there is a deal on the table to sell Allstream to Zayo for $465 million.
MTS strikes $465-million deal to sell Allstream unit to Zayo Group of U.S. - The Globe and Mail

No.

Vince Valentini from TD Securities has been talking up the sale of MTS for at least the last 5 years. The Globe and Mail article about the sale of MTS was pure speculation.

MTS announced that they planned to sell the Allstream division quite a while ago, so that was public knowledge.

I was thinking for a while with the sale of Allstream it was only a matter of time. I'm sure if the Allstream deal went through in 2013 then I'm sure someone would make an offer in 2014.

Currently with MTS(All services TV,Internet, Home phone and Cell phone)
