Depending on the TV, when there is a change in format - say 1080P to 720P, etc, there is often a "mad scramble" on the TV while it resynchs. This is normal with some TVs blacking out during this period, while others can take as long as 10 seconds to resynch. What does this have to do with MTS - or am I misreading something?

well I just switched it out for component cable and its great now just wasn't sure what was causing it at first as I never experienced this problem with Shaw so that was new to me, I have been using this tv since 2010 and no problems until today, but I guess there is something with that hdmi cord that is causing problems thanks anyway you can remove this thread if you wish thanks

Could also try hdmi 2 or 3. I heard some techs at other companies, elsewhere in Canada, have had issues with hdmi 1 (either ARC, DVI, etc)

If using component, make sure you set the box to output HD. Sounds like you know what you're doing though.
