Ultimate TV and mediaroom

I understand that MTS deploys it's TV service to customers using mediaroom. What I'm wondering is if I am able to utilize the consumer-end version of mediaroom on my PC to set it up as a HTPC.

Is this possible at this time? If not, has anyone heard if/when it will be?

It sounds like you're talking about Windows Media Centre running on the PC integrating with Mediaroom on the set top box. Although Microsoft says this is possible, I'm not aware of any provider actually doing it, certainly no one in Canada has that feature.

Content from MTS Ultimate TV is only available using set top boxes (STB) supplied directly from MTS.

^^ that's my understanding too. There were other providers allowing Xbox 360's to be used as STB's but not PC's.

Authorized Service Provider (Contractor) for MTS Allstream. Any views expressed are my own.

Thanks for your responses everyone. I'm guessing there is no point in putting a TV tuner card in the HTPC I'm building. Shame because it would've been nice to get rid of one of the boxes in my entertainment center. I might even just hold off and keep using the PS3 as my blu-ray, WDLIVE as my media player, and the STB for TV.

Oh well, dare to dream I guess!
