There is definitely a setting on their end for hard drive space. When we register the stb's, if we use 2262/2202's, and the order doesn't have 500 GB service on it, it reminds us that it is not on the order.
We are supposed to be using up the supply of 1216/1200's before using the new stuff, but many installers like the smaller size, boot times, etc. And well, some people are bothered by *cough* refurbs *cough*. It's not like they are selling used stuff, since they only rent. If it fails, they swap it.
I was told that the Sales dept had to change a setting, then Tech support rebooted the PVR from their end.
I did not consent to a $50 charge, nor was I informed of one by the Tech support guy. We'll see if it shows up on my bill.
