In general I find the charts to be very confusing as they are so incomplete. Would be nice to see a complete channel layout and where they fall as this is missing a bunch of things (where is Fox, TSN, etc)

Are you listening/watching MTS??? :-)

Since the upcoming changes include a different name for the Discovery HD offering that still directly references Discovery it would seem this is one of the exceptions to including the HD channel in the SD group.

I agree that MTS could eliminate a lot of confusion by making the full PDF of the new channel packages available. They have obviously created the PDF since they've posted a cropped image of it.

CoryB, Discovery can be confusing. Here's the breakdown:

The HD Discovery group consists of:

Channel 1621 Discovery World HD
Channel 1185 Wild TV HD

Discovery World HD has completely different content from Discovery Channel (104).

Discovery Channel (104) is in the "Prime Time 2" group; Discovery Channel HD (1104) will be added to the same group and will have the same schedule.

It looks like the "HD Discovery" group is being renamed to "HD Discovery & Sports Trophies" and will contain the same 2 channels. I think the reason that Wild TV HD is not included in the regular "Sports Trophies" group is that the channel owner charges a significant premium for the HD channel.

Classic TV changes as of December 4, 2012

I found a link for Classic TV with the same changes (not including the HD channels obviously).

Just a reminder that the Dec 4th changes are rolling out next week. If you have not done so already you may want to review your channel selection as the pricing of theme groups is changing to be individually based instead of needing to purchase serveral as a group.

Just a quick heads-up that if you currently are subscribed to HD Starter you will be automatically enrolled into Timeshift East if you do not currently have it. You likely need to remove this on Tuesday if you do not want it.

It would be nice if MTS did some updating on the welcome screen when you login to change your channels. It still shows the old package requirements where you needed the HD started pack to get the Movie channels in HD.

They can't update it until they can provide the actual channel packages on December 4th... if you had the options right now and selected them, what would they update? It would cause mass confusion.

was referring to the fact that they never updated it the last time they made changes to the HD starter pack channel lineup.

On the current fee schedule:

HD Starter - $6
HD Variety - $3
HD Sports - $3

Total $12

Movie Central is $16 with a 50% off promo for six months if you are not currently a subscriber dropping the cost to $8.

With the changes the the HD structure coming on Tuesday this means you could subscribe to Movie Central for six months and still be paying less on your bill! It even works out that way if you only have one of HD Variety or HD Sports.

I did signup for the MC promo. Unfortunately Movie central 50% off only applies to the 7pak ($19/month). $9.50 still isn't bad. Also MC3 will be in HD on Tuesday. Was disappointed in the ondemand offerings not being in HD (and also looking worse then some SD channels)

Also Timeshift East looks to be lacking compared to what Timeshift West gives you. Depends on your viewing habits though.

From experience, chances are you can PVR around most conflicts and Timeshift East is unlikely to help further in that regard. It only really seems to add local news for some eastern markets. With programming running three hours later, Timeshift West can be handy but with the PVR I find it a lot less necessary.

I'm probably going to re-add Timeshift West to get around recording conflicts that have come up in the past.

I wonder what the last time Shaw customers' bills went DOWN for more channels?
