I think the mts community site has a post by Jason Z (who is in the video for their new MNOC, and used to be my next door neighbour when I was a kid) and he mentions something about the new LTE. Isn't it 700 MHz? I forget.

Authorized Service Provider (Contractor) for MTS Allstream. Any views expressed are my own.

They use to do it as a news release in the about MTS section of their site.

Now it seems that they use social media (Facebook and Twitter) to reach their customers.

It was the same for the scheduled cell outage the other night between midnight -1am and 5 to 6am. That one was posted on Facebook and their MTS community page

MTS extends its reach to 30 rural Manitoba communities in 2015
Quote:
MTS, Manitoba's leading telecommunications provider, today announced it has expanded its 4G LTE wireless network to Hamiota and MacGregor. This is the latest in a series of expansions that has brought this impressive technology to 30 rural Manitoba communities in 2015.

In 2015 MTS has expanded its 4G LTE Network in The Pas, Beausejour, Pinawa, Elie, Winnipeg Beach, Stonewall, Niverville, Minnedosa, La Salle, Lockport, St Andrew's, Beausejour, Oakbank, Grunthal, Lee River, Kleefeld, Belair, Nopiming, Russell, Anola, Souris, Carberry, Arborg, Lac du Bonnet, Morris, Neepawa, and Treherne.

"More than 1 million Manitobans now have access to MTS's 4G LTE Wireless Network," said MTS CEO Jay Forbes. "LTE offers download speeds up to 150 Mbps, ensuring customers enjoy their new LTE smartphones to the fullest..."

I noticed the press release only listed 28 communities (they listed Beausejour twice). I happened to take a look at their service status page and noticed they had scheduled maintenance for network upgrades last night including "HSPA and LTE in Hamiota, Oak Lake, Rossburn, Russell, Shellmouth and Virden." Oak Lake, Rossburn and Shellmouth were on the list of planned upgrades, so those may be the missing towns.

Pinawa wasn't on the list of planned upgrades, so I'm not sure if that is new or not.

Will be nice to have (local) cell coverage in that area. US providers coverage not too bad but getting tired of paying the roaming fees etc...
Tnx for posting.

Heard from some of the relatives in the Vassar/Sprague area there are still dead spots in that area even with the new tower.
