Here's the link to the full MTS press release.

Through 2010 and 2011, MTS will deploy the new Fibre To The Home Network in Selkirk and in an adjoining area of the Rural Municipalities of St. Andrews and St. Clements. Customers will be migrated to the new network on a gradual basis. MTS customers will be contacted to schedule appointments for technicians to install the necessary connections in homes and businesses for the new network.

So it sounds like Selkirk will be the next city to get Ultimate TV. This will also be the first time that MTS will be replacing copper with FTTH, compared to Waverly West in Winnipeg which is a new home development.

Edit: Deleted my original thread (which had an earlier date) and added this to Hugh's thread to keep everything together.

Fibre to the home deployment on track in Selkirk

MTS is pleased to announce that it has started the deployment of its brand new fibre optic network "FiON" in the City of Selkirk. MTS has successfully started the transfer of telephone and Internet customers on to the new fibre optic network and the Company is on track to migrate 2,200 subscribers in Selkirk to FiON by the end of the year.

Quote:
Teams will continue to convert Selkirk residential customers to the new network throughout 2010 with plans to have the network fully deployed by 2011.
It looks like MTS has come up with a brand for its FTTH network. It reminds me of Verizon's FiOS, right down to the lowercase "i".
