MTS TV and Windows Media Center help

Ok here is my problem.

I have a computer upstairs in my room with a tv tuner on it that I use for watching tv on at night.

I have tried to get my windows media center to work with my set top box but it will not. I worked around it by setting up my tv card to attena settings and now i just keep my windows media center on channel 11 to watch tv and just use my mts tv remote to change the channels. There is a slight delay by about 1 sec but it is not bothersome to me.

The problem I am having is in order to adjust the volume on my computer I have to use my windows media center remote.

how can i adjust it so that my mts universal remote controlls the volume on my pc. I have the IR blaster set up and using the learning keys I set up the volume buttons except one minor issue. When I press volume it only adjusts the volume one setting. (vol is at lvl 47 i press it once it goes down to 46 but no further wether i hold the volume button down or press it repeatedly.)

I am wondering if there is something I can do to fix this. Has anyone else been able to use windows media center sucessfully with their pc using their pcs remote?

thanks in advance

nevermind my post i figured out the problem my ir blaster was just picky.

I have my windows media center working now with my mts universal remote.

I just did the learning keys on the mts remote and just gave all the vital Windows media center remote keys to my mts universal.

It was pretty easy just follow the learning insturctions in your remote instruction manual.

My media center is pretty strange now.

I am gettin my signal through the "antenna" mode listed in the set up.

So I dont have the guide pvr feature but i do. I just program everything through my mts tv set top box. If i want to record a show I just set it to auto tune then use media center to record on channel 8 for the times my show is going to be on.

Since I have learned all the buttons to mts remote it works great and I use the mts remote for all my functions now.

play pause forward rewind record stop arrows and ok button media center button exit/back button and all the numbers 1-2-3 etc.

it allows me to work around all the problems with the IR blasters and the set top boxs and makes it easier for my wife to use it all. (Which is a bonus for me since I dont have to hear her nag anymore)

Glad to hear you got it to work for you.

I did an install for a customer who told me after I had pretty much finished the installation that their PC (using Media Center) was their main recording device. They had Shaw analog service before I got there, so it was seamless. I tried explaining it in simple terms how to do it, but she got very mad after she realized how complicated it was going to be with MTS digital. I wracked my brain trying to come up with a solution, like moving the set top box upstairs to her pc, or whatever, but nope she wouldn't have any of it.

She ended up cancelling before I left. What a waste of time.
