Smile MTS Advanced Prices

What are peoples average bills with MTS Advanced with the new services? Looking at switching from Star Choice. Would want movie channels and all HD channels and use of a PVR. Thanks to those who can help.

Why don't you check the MTS website, it has all the prices listed.

I think he means the "real world" pricing after any unexpected charges etc. True, they do have their prices on there, but I guess it depends what you want.

The promo on their website says "access up to 23 HD channels" (which is the "HD Starter" theme) free for 6 months, but read the fine print! I've had a bunch of customers tell me they weren't clearly told that when you get the "HD Starter" theme, you don't actually get every channel UNLESS you subscribe to the equivalent standard definition channel!

Don't quote me for 100% accuracy, but I just wasted a bunch of my own time to come up with what regular theme (what they call "digital" channels) you must have to receive it in HD:

HD Starter Theme:
421-430 = Basic Cable
431-433 = Premium Movies 5 pak ($15.99/mo)
434 = Premium Movies 2 pak ($8.99/mo)
(**or it might only be 431-434 if you have the Premium Movies 7 pak @ $19/mo)
435-436 = Super Channel ($16.99/mo)
437 & 441 = Primetime Theme (counts as 2 themes)
438 = People Theme
439 = Super Theme which you must have either the Premium Movies 5 pak, 2 pak, 7 pak, or Super Channel to get!! (Note: Super Theme is not the Super Channel package!)
440 = Entertainment Theme
442 & 443 = Sports Fans Theme (counts as 2 themes)

HD Sports Theme: ($3/mo)
471 = Sports Fans (counts as 2 themes)
475 = Basic Cable (Sorry, I'm not 100% positive this is the case)
476 = Sports Champions Theme

HD Hi-Fi Theme: ($3/mo)
I don't think there are SD equivalents, so I guess it's just the monthly fee for this theme

The promo says free PVR service for 6 months, and after that it's $5/mo. It also says free rental on 2 STB's for 6 months, and after that it's $3/mo PER STB.

There are certain circumstances where they will offer you better deals, like if you're a winback from Shaw (if you have all your services with Shaw ie. phone, TV, and internet) and if that's the case, call for a quote. I've seen other people suggest calling back a few times to see if you're offered the same deal (not specifically with MTS, mind you).

Hope somebody finds this useful.

Note - be sure if you're a new customer, be sure to mention you are switching from Shaw. Chances are, you'll get the STB rental thrown in for a full year... or if you are really lucky, you'll get 2 years (24 months) like I did.

I would also pass on the "HiFi" channels - not much worth watching on there.

Macman, your list looks correct except for WGN. The equivalent of 439 is 245 which is in the Movie Flicks package, so you don't need Premium Movies or Super Channel. Here are the WGN channels on MTS.

Channel .....................Theme
222 WGN 9 Chicago .....Super
245 WGN America ........Movie Flicks
439 WGN America HD ...HD Starter
