Thanks cprich2007...for the guide info...

Unfortunately with this guide I found some major limitations with the new service which I posted in the other MTS-HDTV thread...that are a real deal-breaker for me!

Well I'm surprised to hear that the new HD service is available at my address. Maybe because I'm so close to their distribution center. Anyways how is the service so far to anyone who has it and what would be your opinion on Shaw's HD service compared to MTS HD service if it applies? Just wondering because I'm just doing some price comparisons.

Shaw Gateway + 2 Portals, Samsung 55' Smart TV, XBOX360 Slim, XBOX 1, PS3, PS4, Nintendo WII, Nintendo Switch

I have had the service now for a few days, and I love it. I can't compare it to Shaw, as I have never had service with Shaw.

The PVR is great, I have found tha many tiems I am recording a show and watching another, or recording 2 or 3 shows at once. The picture quality is very good. All the HD channels appear to broadcast in 5.1 Dolby. The guide is fast, and I love to 2-click record series feature. VoD is nice, but a little slim on movies right now, I called and was told that they are converting the MTStv VoD library over to the IPTV service, and that new titles will be showing up everyday. They have some great old NFB titles that I remember as a kid, fun to go through those again.

Overall, I am extremely impressed, and it is worth every penny I pay for it.

I really hope they will be able to add more streams to the households sooner rather than later as that seems to be the only thing preventing me from switching.

Well...that and the fact they only have one feed of American Nets in HD.

Do they sim-sub at all?

Quick question - do you need the SD set-top box as well as the HD set-top box like their old HD service?

Is the HD PVR rental $5 + $3 for the normal rental?

What's the response time for the remote like on the PVR?

Are the feeds all local time, or Seattle time, like their old HD service?

I might finally be able to dump Shaw...

All Set Top Boxes are HD - Standard. That is all they put into my house even on SD TV's.

Yes, I pay $3 for the Set Top and another $5 for the PVR.

Remote response is immediate, there is no delay at all

I didn't have the old HD service, but I am pretty sure the HD channels I am getting with the IPTV service is from North Dakota. WDAZ, KARE, KMSP

Hope this helps

So then in fact you are paying $8 for set-top box rental if you go HD? Is that per box? or is the PVR separate from the set-top box (ie two units)?

Its $3 per box and another $5 for pvr service. You must get one box per tv, all with hd and any one box can be the pvr. Later on you will be able to access pvr from any tv, but not yet.

Does anyone know if MTS substitutes Global and/or CTV for the American High Definition Network feeds from North Dakota/Minnesota?

ie...during CSI you get CTV commercials?

I know that the CRTC only allows simsubbing of HD networks where the Global or CTV have local HD affiliates.

So until CTV Winnipeg and/or Global Winnipeg go HD, you shouldn't have to worry about simsubbing.

That may be true...but Bell sim-subs all the time even though (in theory) the CRTC is against it.

I just want to know what MTS-HD does...from someone with the service...(do they sim-sub?).

I'm shocked that no one has answered this!
