Question

Presently on Bell Fibe TV channel 4000 is 4KTV. Toronto Raptors vs Orlando Magic. Needs subscription. I'm assuming this is TSN 4KTV?

I'm guessing that 4K broadcast will be shown in the 4000 range?

Yesterday's game was on Sportsnet. Perhaps Bell has picked up the Sportsnet 4K channel and you saw that.

I called Bell support to ask how I subscribe to see the game and they were all running around in confusion as no one knew anything about it.

Question

Yeah I'd to like to know to? How can you watch the 4K broadcast when "Supposedly" only the new receivers can decode it, when therywon't be out till after the broadcast?

They probably just wanted to beat Rogers with the first broadcast at home.

I'm still scratching my head over the fact that we seem to have bypassed 1080p.

All my programs are 720p, and they're quite good, but I've watched 1080p on my BluRay and a few ON-Demand movies, and it's even better.

Why don't they concentrate on providing all shows in 1080p first instead of jumping to 4K.

What happened?

1080p has been out for awhile (not broadcasted). Broadcasting was too expensive and there was no infrastructure to bring it into the home. Now the tech is cheaper and can be brought into homes, however tech is now on 4k. Why invest in something that is now static? Companies invest in future tech

Why invest in 1080p? Because most everyone has a 1080p television and it would be nice to see 1080p signals. If the tech is indeed cheap now, then let us have it.

They are not dumping 720p / 1080i TV or 1080p. With gigabit home connections Nell and Rogers can offer a new product. I'm excited that they are offering 4K. It will take time to elvolve but with the sports and movie /TV streaming coming it is a better start HDTV had. TV shows will take more time.

Now channel 4000 shows the Wednesday Raptors game as the next event. Hopefully Bell will get their act together by then. I'm hoping that January 18th date that was floating around is true, and we'll be able to order the new boxes next week.
Took a quick look at Rogers - they seem to have $12 NextBox 4k rentals, which is a great price. And they're promising Rogers on Demand movies and tv shows in 4K soon, not just sports. Hopefully Bell will be sort of similar.

4K will end up exactly the same as 1080P or 3D. I do not believe that providers will ever start offering wider selection of 4K content. The technology is moving to fast for them to adapt especially that 8K is on the way and after that 16K.
I belive that these new technologies are being invented just to keep selling new TV sets.

Question

I agree with bev fan.

Where's 3D TV today? They said that was the future? I have yet to see All sports programming converted to 3D? Is every single game on NHL CI broadcast in 3D? Is every single sporting event broadcast in 3D? Is every single Prime Time TV shows broadcast in 3D? How many movies on CRAVE TV or Shomi are in 3D? How many ON Demand movies are in 3D? More then 50%?How many movies on TMN or MC or the other Movie Channels are in 3D

It's all a gimmick for the consumer to buy the next thing. Just like DAT for audio tapes, just like CDs for MP3 players, just like VHS for DVDs and so on.

Yes I know technology is changing, but to what end?
