Is there a way to power off the PVR when you will be away for a week or so
other than unplugging it and also, I find the pulsating green light that shines
through the top vent, to be annoying in a dark room. Is there any way to stop it?

If you fall asleep in fornt of your TV it is nice that the PVR goes into stand by mode. However the stupid blue Bell screen saver keeps my TV on all night. If the Bell PVR shut the signal down to my TV (or it went to black like the Shaw PVR) my TV will shut down or at least turn of the back ground illumination (because of black screen) to save power and operating life.

If you listen to the music channels say on some outdoor speakers and turn your TV off but leave the receiver on. It will shut off after 4 hours. very annoying. Working outside with music on all day. It shuts off

You can press any button on your remote once every 4 hours to keep the STB from going into standby mode. You don't even have to turn on the TV.

You may be able to program one of the new harmony remotes to press a button every 2 hours.

^^^^ I have NOT come across that capability in the Harmony One.

If however, someone has a remote that allows for the creation of timed macros and can bump the "info" button for the PVR, then that would be an option.
