What are the current promos to win-over disgruntled Shaw customers?

Also, what happens if you move out of the province or outside of Telus' area while still locked into Telus' 3 year contract?

On my last bill, my Best of HD programing is going up $3 to $28/mth.

Along with the $5 for High Speed, this will require some negotiating with customer service...lol

It may still be a better buy than choosing 3 packages at $9 each.

Is Telus like Bell in that they increase their rates pretty much every year? My Bill's going up by 6 bucks/month and I only signed up in September.

It was not that long ago, that they raised my rate for Best Of HD $5/mth.

So Ive had two increases(total $8) in the last few months.

Proving that time flies...I am pretty sure that was at least a year ago.

It was such a great deal (if the included channels worked for you), it was only offered for 6 weeks before being shut down to new subscriptions, it is likely still a good deal even though it will likely continue to increase in price at a faster rate than other available plans. I am more annoyed at the $5 increase to ADSL packages than the $3 increase for the Best of HD plan.

I would be happy with less than 15 Meg ADSL for a lower price but Telus wont allow subscription to a slower ADSL plan if you have Optik TV even though you dont have to subscribe to ADSL at all to have Optik TV. Even cancelling ADSL and talking with retentions didnt lead to an offer for slower less expensive ADSL.

Okay, went online and looked it up. My Best of HD package was $20 on my mid November 2012 bill but had increased to $25 on my mid December 2012 bill. So it looks to be about 15 months between price increases. Telus should put more details on the bills about their price increases especially when they are bucking the trend and doing it less than once a year. Obviously perception is that the last increase was just a couple of months ago!

When I was still with Shaw Direct it seemed like the price increases were coming at least twice a year but I didnt verify that...it was a few years ago now.

Perception is key and also often wondered about the asdl optic correlation.

I am now on fixed income(retirement) and have already slashed my phone line.(gone to voip for $5.99/mth for two yrs, and very satisfied.

Cant see jumping ship to another provider, till all options are used.
Your right $3 for increase is not a lot. But the $5 to asdl is creeping up to my threshold.

Pretty much the only option is to cut all TV except Essentials.(will go netfiix)

I keep hoping that competition will push Telus to allow a slower rated ADSL service along with Optik TV as there is nothing stopping one from subscribing to Shaw for internet and Telus for TV. Though a quick look at Shaws internet prices has their slowest 10 meg plan at $55 after a 6 month discounted rate of $30. Even with Telus' upcoming $5 increase the 15 meg plan will only be $52 though I am not certain if that is before or after the $5 bundle discount. Past experience is that if you are ticked off enough or have Shaws $30 for 6 months offer in your hands, Telus retentions will usually take care of you. I just can't be bothered calling in constantly trying to get a little discount that runs out in a few months.

Telus and Shaw aren't competing in quite the cut throat way that they used to. I think Shaw was verging on big problems with the intense competition so they backed off to get share price and earnings back up and Telus is now able to cash in as well. It was the intense competition that led to Telus introducing the Best of HD plan.

^Yes they do, but they don't offer that if you want Optik TV as well. Slowest for Optik TV as mentioned in previous posts is the 15mb/s package.

hmm... my march bill went up by $5. Looks like internet got a price increase. Time to cancel Holywood Suite.
