Tethering an iPhone to iPad via a MacBook

My mom does not have Internet so when I was visiting for a couple of days I tethered my MacBook to my iPhone as usual using blue tooth. This is perfectly legal and Rogers does allow tethering to anyone with a 1gb data plan.

As an experiment I tried sharing my Internet connection on the MacBook via wifi. It worked and I could connect to iPad to the Internet via the MacBook via the iPhone.

I admit it's not the most practical way of getting on the Internet via 3G but I thought I would post this in case someone would find this info useful.

Someone has already hacked a jail broken iPad to use the camera connector to access an external USB HD. Hopefully someone will hack it to allow USB tethering.

Thanks for that tip.

That app is pretty exciting. At the moment iPad > iPhone doesn't work at the iPhone end but he's working on it. This has to do with the type of bluetooth profile the iPhone needs...something about using "PAN" instead of "DUN"
