I must apologise and correct some errors that I made earlier in this thread.

I forgot that 1920x1080 was a standard resolution for 4:3 CRT monitors but the pixels weren't square. When they made 19" LCD monitors with the same resolution they squared up the pixels, so the aspect ratio was 5:4. Therefore, the screen height of the 19" monitor at issue is probably 11.87". This is higher than even a 24" 16:9 monitor, which would be 11.77".

If considering my suggestion to go with a 22" or 21.5" 1920x1080 monitor:

For a 22" monitor, the pixels would be 13.84% smaller.
A line that was 10" long on the 19" monitor would be 8.62".

For a 21.5" monitor, the pixels would be 15.80% smaller.
A line that was 10" long on the 19" monitor would be 8.42".

Without modification, all text and other images would scale accordingly.
