Looking for Directv equipment

Hello all, looking to find some Directv equipment... I've seen lots of Directv receivers on eBay but how would I be able to check to see if there's a balance?

I am looking for 4 HD DVR receivers and the Directv SwimLine Dish with one cable from LNB to splitter....

any where to look? Or anyone got stuff left over?

Thanks

I would guess you would need to call the service provider and provide them with the serial number, in this case DirecTV. That's how its done for Canadian satellite receivers. If the receiver takes an encryption card, that should be present and match the receiver as well. Some providers will not activate a receiver with a missing card. In any case, you will need to provide a US address, probably a US credit card with a matching US address and not let them know the equipment is being used in Canada.

I believe I have found what I am looking for, but I am unsure of a couple of things...

1. If I purchase these used receivers, will I still be charged the $7.00 that the usual customer has for "leasing"?

2. For smart cards, do you think Directv will mail them out to me?

I know this is a long shot but I am interested in seeing if I can do this. I see a couple neighbors have/had both Dish and Directv and I am curious if I am able to do Directv... I wonder how the others do it?

Thanks for the tips!

DirecTV and Dish are illegal in Canada. Any discussions should pertain to US applications only.
