2009 F1 Discussions - Please See Post 1.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/moto...ne/7766092.stm

Edit by 57 - here's a summary what's airing for F1 during the typical race week:

Speed for Friday Practice
TSN for Saturday Qualifying
Speed for F1 Debrief of the previous race, Sunday morning before the race (Sometimes also earlier in the week)
Speed for Inside GP Sunday morning before the race (Sometimes also earlier in the week)
TSN for the race on Sunday
Speed often carries the race tape- delayed and it sometimes is allowed to air later on Sunday, or later in the week, but Record TSN Sunday to get the race live.
Lastly, The Speed Report (Sunday evening & Monday morning), which covers various motorsports for the week in an hour.

The Speed Qualifying and Live Race are blacked out because TSN have exclusive rights for those in Canada.

They were just going through the motions this time around.

This crisis is hitting racing hard. Audi has pulled out of ALMS and

Petty Enterprises may soon be gone. Tough Times.

And so it begins ... .

Three potential buyers already made inquiries. Makes me wonder, is this sign of privateers being again majority on the F1 grid instead of manufacturers?

Since Max Mosley is so fond of making arbitrary rule changes, maybe he can just combine F1 and GP2 into a single race and make it a tiered racing system similar to GT races - all cars on the track at the same time, but you're really only 'racing' cars in your own class in terms of standing. This will always ensure plenty of cars on track and be able to withstand the loss of one or two teams.

I'm kidding, of course, but I'm no longer surprised by any news I hear coming out of the FIA these days.

It's probably the tip of the iceberg.

Williams are rumoured to be in trouble as well.

Toro Rosso may have to pull out due to a rules change after 2009.

I hadn't heard about Audi pulling out of ALMS or LMS.

Maybe Gerhard Berger who recently sold his 50% stake in Toro Rosso back to Dietrich Mateschitz may be a potential buyer. Continuing with pure speculation perhaps Michael Schumacher may buy in as well since he has a long relationship with Ross Brawn (although I read somewhere recently he has no intertest in team ownership).

Is this the first of the nails in the Coffin of F1.?

The last 2 seasons have been a farce with everything looking weighted towards the Red Cars.

I feel sorry for Barrichello, the most experienced driver in F1 today.

The next big hurdle is the single engine supplier debate, chosen as Cosworth, if they decide to go that route.

I have to say that I am surprised by this. I wouldn't have thought that Honda would want to leave as a complete, abject failure. That's not like them.

What??? I hadn't heard this. I was just reading a few days ago about the new car, the R15. The replacement for the R10 with the next generation diesel motor that they were talking about debuting at Sebring in March. I hope your info is not right.

Audi is pulling out of LMS and ALMS.

The only confirmed appearances of the R15 are Sebring and the 24 Hours of LeMans.

Greedy SOB's have ruined open wheeled motorsports. Indy first now F1. Max Mosley and Bernie Eccleonstone should resign.

I guess they didn't like last year's final race where they didn't know until the checkered flag who would win. Conceivably the season could be over early in the second half of the schedule.
