No More Live NHL Games at the Movie Theatres?

hey guys,

didn't know where to put this thread if in here, or the movie one, feel free to move it.

Anyways last year and year before I enjoyed going to see the Leafs games at SilverCity Theatre when they were being televised on Leafs TV. Watching it on a big screen and in HD was fantastic, I didn't mind pay 10 dollars to go see it.

So were a quarter of a way through the NHL season and it seems Cineplex theatres is no longer showing any NHL games across Canada and I was just wondering does anybody know why? Was there ever an announcement on them giving a reason as to why they have stopped showing hockey games?

Any info would be great

thanks

Only thing I can think of is that now that Rogers is the primary sponsor of the team - and that is something that happened midseason last year I think, or was it two years ago - LeafsTV (as well as RaptorsTV) got moved down from the Sports Only tier into the basic digital tier. With that change, they probably figured it wasn't worth it anymore since more people now were able to see the Leaf games that were on LeafsTV.

and This Year NOTHING ... I don't get it, I really liked watching it on a big screen. It's not even the Leafs too, Cineplex isn't showing any Canadian teams anymore. My guess was no many people showed up and they canceled it altogether. It would have been good if they would have put out an announcement or something, oh well what do you do.

Were the games not advertised as being in HD? If memory serves me correctly, a lot of games shown locally were not in HD. If that's the case, is it any wonder attendance was so poor?
