TSN delivers comprehensive live coverage of the 2019 CFL DRAFT on Thursday, May 2 beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The draft kicks off with two hours of extensive coverage on TSN1, TSN3 and TSN4, with the later rounds available on TSN.ca and the TSN app beginning at 10 p.m. ET for TSN and TSN Direct subscribers.
TSN Radio stations across the country provide coverage of their local teams throughout the week, including reactions to each team’s selections following the draft.
The 2019 CFL DRAFT is the first major date of the 2019 CFL season, with pre-season action beginning Sunday, May 26, and the regular season kicking off Thursday, June 13. The CFL season culminates with the 107th GREY CUP presented by Shaw, live from McMahon Stadium in Calgary on Sunday, Nov. 24.
TSN Radio, along with a few radio stations that aren't TSN, had all the CFL games for free on their websites last year.
If your like me and go to a lot of the games and don't want to spend money on TSN's TV channels (I get the daily TV pass here and there) the free online radio broadcasts are great.
I'm hoping the league and union can settle their differences so the season starts on time...
It's more expensive, but why pay for TSN full-time if I'm going to more than half my team's games in person? The daily pass is great, or for the same price I can go watch at a local bar and get some wings for the way out of town games I don't travel to.
I think you can expect all the games to be 4K. They mentioned 4K in last year's pre-season announcement and haven't said anything since, but I think all the games were on TSN's 4K schedule. You can check it in a week or 2.
CanadaFootballChat.com (CFC) and TSN announced a new partnership to showcase Canada’s emerging football stars with the first-ever CANADAFOOTBALLCHAT.COM PROSPECT GAME. The inaugural edition of this annual event featuring 73 top high school football players from across the country takes place at Ottawa’s TD Place Stadium on Saturday, June 1 at 1 p.m. ET. Each ticket to the game also includes admission to the Ottawa Redblacks pre-season game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
TSN’s exclusive broadcast of the CANADAFOOTBALLCHAT.COM PROSPECT GAME airs Sunday, June 2 at 12 noon ET. (Press Release)
Thursday, June 21 Saskatchewan Roughriders at Ottawa Redblacks 7:30pm
Friday, June 22 Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Montreal Alouettes 7pm
Saturday, June 23 Calgary Stampeders at Toronto Argonauts 7pm
This is for June - they only show one month at a time.
TSN finally updated their 4K page - these are the games on the list:
Thursday, June 13 CFL: Saskatchewan Roughriders at Hamilton Tiger-Cats 7:30pm
Saturday, June 22 CFL: Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Toronto Argonauts 4pm
Thursday, June 27 CFL: Edmonton Eskimos at Winnipeg Blue Bombers 8:30pm
I assume they will add more for the rest of the season. Curious to see what the trucks look like (I'll be at both the June 13th game in Hamilton and the June 22nd game in Toronto).
I'll try and bribe Matthew Scianitti with some Converse shoes to show me around...
Can't wait...hopefully TSN doesn't flip around the Saskatchewan @ Hamilton game tonight on multiple channels when the Raptors game starts - If you are recording the game, I assume you'll have to set your PVR to multiple channels to catch the whole game. The game start has also been moved to 7pm - which is going to be rough for some Roughrider fans to catch locally...and a pain for me to try to get to the game on time.
If people are going to watch Football, they will be like me and watch Football - people who like Basketball will watch Basketball...I don't understand moving game times for another league/sport when the games will still overlap.
The Ti-Cats are also showing the NBA game for free after the football game, and letting anyone in the stadium to watch...going to be a traffic nightmare or blessing...not sure yet...
I'm also not sure if TSN pressured the CFL to move this game...it is the opening game, and CFL fans will still watch the CFL...
I don't see why TSN would switch channels at this late point. The whole Raptors game will be on TSN 1/4 and the whole CFL game will be on TSN 3/5, which will show the end of the Raptors after the CFL game finishes.
I heard that 8.5 million people watched some part of Raptors game 5, which an average viewership of 6.5 million, so there are a lot of people on the Raptors bandwagon.
Here are a couple of other similar start times for western teams playing in the east on a weekday.
Thursday, July 25, Calgary at Ottawa 7pm et/4pm pt
Thursday, August 1, Winnipeg at Toronto 7pm et/4pm pt
Dr. Dave, the game starts at 5 PM in Saskatchewan. Central Standard Time is one hour behind the Central Daylight Time, that you're on in Manitoba, and two hours behind Ontario.
TSN just has a history of last minute channel changes, or cutting into coverage on channels it shouldn't. Learned my lesson way too many times. If you watch live, it is OK as they give you plenty of time to change channels and the announcers let you know where to go. It just is frustrating when you record a program, watch 2 hours, and the last hour is something else.
It may not just be TSN - it could be the EPG from the service provider isn't updated.
For example, the EPG isn't updated for Cogeco yet for the time change of the CFL game.
Agree 100%. Absolutely unacceptable. I twice sent messages to TSN complaining about them switching channels before the end of CFL games and have had the courtesy of zero replies.
In order to try and avoid this situation, I now record on 2 channels hoping they won't switch both of them.
And how about their bad habit of delaying coverage of a CFL game because a prior program is not yet finished? How can this even be possible when they have 5 channels to broadcast?
@Inglewood it must just be Cogeco that hasn't updated their guide. I double-checked TSN, Zap2it and Rovi before I posted and they all had the same schedule. I've heard that TSN will sometimes switch channels at the last minute, but this schedule seems pretty well planned out.

In addition to TSN Radio, SiriusXM will carry every CFL regular season and playoff game starting today. French broadcasts of all Montréal Alouettes games will also be offered to subscribers. Today's press release:
Anyone else noticing that some CFL games so far this year look sharper, cleaner and the colours are deeper/more realistic? I don't have a 4K signal (Bell satellite TV) but I do have a 4K TV and am wondering if the better picture is the result of TSN using 4K cameras at some games?
The June 13th game was shot in 4K, so it's possible that the picture was better even after it was down-mixed for HD transmission. See my previous posts for 4K info. It may even depend on the type of production truck they used - some are dedicated 4K and some are HD/4K.
-Rod Black, or whoever is announcing doesn't need to apologize for the "language" when there is swearing and keep on stating "these are live mics...we can't control what you hear". It's tiring hearing it every couple minutes. There's lots of swearing...we get it. If someone doesn't like it, they will change the channel - the constant apologies doesn't keep them tuned in if they are offended by the language.
-Would be cool if you could have SAP functions for turning the mics on/off, or switching between teams. Would have loved to hear Toronto's mics last week when they were getting slaughtered.
New viewers are always tuning in throughout the broadcast. The announcer doesn't want unsuspecting viewers to be shocked and so he keeps repeating the warning. Its no different from the repeated "mature content" warnings after each commercial break on many TV series. Don't forget that the CRTC and several "public good" organizations are monitoring to spot anything in the show that might be considered "offensive". Those frequent announcements keep TSN clear of any potential fines/penalties.
I don't understand why they couldn't do what HNIC does where they delay the broadcast about seven seconds to allow any profanity or objectionable material to be filtered out.
@hercules130 - most of the time that is correct, but it doesn't always work out that way - I watch every Ti-Cats game and use to think using TSN4 would be safe - lots of events like MLS and other Toronto coverage always bumped the game to another channel - sometimes one that didn't make geographic sense (like Toronto at Hamilton on TSN3 and nothing else).
I guess the best solution is a 5 tuner DVR, or watch the replay on TSN's website if all else fails.
@Inglewood, if that is the case, to be 100% sure, send an e-mail to TSN beforehand. They will be able to tell you which channel is which, and the respond is usually quite quick. help@tsn.ca
