It doesn't appear to be. I don't notice a big improvement. On Sportsnet 4k, I can't tell it apart from Sportsnet HD.

I was in a Rogers Store over a year ago and I was switching between HD and 4k while watching a Blue Jays broadcast. I could not see any difference in picture detail and the 4k channel was definitely not in HDR.

I'd be interested in hearing if anyone can get TSN Direct in 4K tonight, either as a direct subscriber or a through a TV provider login where they subscribe to TSN 4K.

Telus announced in April that they were the only provider to support 4K HDR and the only "live" HDR channel they had was Travelxp 4K HDR. I double-checked their current 4K channel list and that is still the only HDR channel. Sportsnet and TSN are shown as plain 4K, indicating they don't use HDR yet.

Keep in mind that very few NHL games on Sportsnet 4K are actually in 4K. The only one I could find on www.sportsnet.ca/schedule/ between now and Jan. 24 is Jan. 2, 7:00 PM VAN @ OTT on SN 4K. TSN 4K has 7 NHL games in January.

Canada vs Switzerland last night was on SN4K. It was great looking. You can see the difference between the commercials at a lower resolution and to the game at 4K non-HDR.

You could also see it in the on screen graphics, which looked very pixelated compared to the actual players and such. The game itself was a treat to watch in 4k.

@lex_rx I think you meant TSN4K.

Did anyone try 4K with the TSN app?

no TSN Direct in App Store.

While finding 3rd party apps for ATV 4K there was no TSN Direct only TSN GO.

Any ideas?

I don't think there is a separate app for TSN Direct. It just seems to be a different login. On the web site, you either choose to login in with your TSN Direct credentials or your TV provider credentials.

I don't use Apple, but I looked at TSN GO in the iTunes store and the last update was in August. I don't know if they would need to update the app for 4K, or if the capability was always there for the Apple TV 4K and they just had to provide the 4K content.

EDIT: I installed the TSN android app and it gives you a choice at sign-in - TSN Direct or TSN GO through your TV provider.

I did mean SN=sportsnet, 998 on Rogers.

I haven't tried any sports channel app on the ATV4.

Is Sportsnet 4K (at this time SN-Ontario and SN-One) really 4K? I can not see the difference with SN in HD. It is unlike TSN4K - which unfortunately only few and far between - which the difference between 4K and 1080 is perceivable.

If you click the first link in the first post you'll see the SN schedule. The first thing I found that was in 4K was Tuesday at 7PM (Blue Jays). You have to click the individual days and see if SN4K comes up. You, of course, need to watch it on the 4K channel, not the HD channels.

Very little 4K programming is available on SN. I believe the Jays' home games are available in 4K, so the Wednesday 4PM game is 4K, per the schedule.

Here are more 4K airings of Jays (Home) games:

Friday April 26th,
Saturday, April 27th,
Sunday April 28th
Monday, May 6th
Tuesday, May 7th
Wednesday, May 8th
Friday, May 10th
Saturday, May 11th
Sunday, May 12th
