Multiple websites report that the Canadian broadcaster should be announced Monday.

Odd that TSN has listings for IndyCar for NBCSN on their website.

At least TSN has let us know a good portion of the season is on NBC and not NBCSN

INDYCAR Media secures wide-ranging international broadcast deals

Quote:
Notably, in Canada, through INDYCAR’s partnership with Sportsnet, INDYCAR fans will be able to consume NTT IndyCar Series races and qualifying sessions on SN NOW+, Sportsnet’s direct-to-consumer platform. Additionally, all races except for the season opener (due to a scheduling conflict) will air in Canada on Sportsnet World, a Sportsnet linear television channel, with the Indianapolis 500 and the Honda Indy Toronto also airing on linear television via the Sportsnet 360 and Sportsnet ONE channels, respectively.
I'm disappointed. This is not good.

Sportsnet World, really? Last I checked, that was a seperate, $20/month addon channel on my BDU. With the number of channels Sportsnet has, they want to cram it up there?

This deal is pathetic. Sounds like the death knell for Indycar in Canada. They'd have been better off just putting the whole thing on DAZN, with how much SN World or SN Now+ cost.

IMSA has a better deal than INDYCAR in Canada.

SN NOW instead of SN NOW+ for the digital rights would have been better.

This is what will be legally available without SN World:
  • INDYCAR Grand Prix (Indy Road Course) on NBC
  • Indy 500 Bump & Pole Shootouts on NBC
  • Indianapolis 500-mile race on NBC & SN360
  • Detroit Grand Prix (2 races) on NBC
  • Road America race on NBC
  • Indy Toronto on SN1
  • Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio on NBC
  • Grand Prix of Portland on NBC
  • Grand Prix of Monterey on NBC

Guess I'll have to plug in the laptop to the TV to watch the non-NBC races on SN Now...

Disappointing.

Ridiculous. There is absolutely nothing else on Sportsnet World that interests me to justify the cost.

I don't think you can stream the race on SN Now through your cable provider log in. SN now+ is a pay service and that is where the races will be streamed. This stinks way beyond bad. Oh well, there are lots of "free", online streaming services out there...

I didn't realize that SN Now+ was extra cash....I'm not paying for it!

I've been following IndyCar, CART, ChampCar, IRL, etc. since the early 80's. This is the first time since the IRL/CART years I'll be missing races.

Plenty of other content/racing to watch on the weekends. Good luck Indycar in trying to keep Canadian fans like me engaged this season. The only one who likes this decision is my non-race fan wife...

$27.99 monthly for SN Now+. I don't think so!

I'm in the same boat. Been following since the early 80's, or even late 70's (when it was CART and even during the "split"). Lately I've missed a few races due to extensive travelling and inability to remotely programme my PVR, but I can't say I'm interested enough to pay extra. I'm already paying enough for my TV viewing and there's enough other stuff to watch.

These sorts of tactics where customers need to purchase all sorts of different access is going to bite these "promoters" in the butt. I'm not playing/paying. I haven't watched MotoGP and Superbike for the same reason. I stream WRC highlights, but that's free. I hate watching via my computer - connected via HDMI to my TV - and rarely do it.

Yeah I don't know what they're thinking with this. This is the action of a declining business that wants to milk as much as it can from existing fans. They won't be getting new ones with the content inaccessible behind such a massive paywall.

I'll be picking up the NBC races, but that's it. Sad, really.
