Personally when a customer wants to use their own router. I plug a cable from a LAN on the 2wire into the WAN on the customer's router. That way the 2wire looks like a modem and the customers router functions just as if it was on Shaw. If you are running any kind of services on your network that may need full access to the Internet. You can go into your 2wire and put your own router in a DMZ. Basically this gives your router all access to the internet and your own router can handle security, firewalls etc.
