Nothing wrong with buying discontinued or last years models, they usually represent awesome value.

I picked a 58" Toshiba 58L1350U for $848 taxes in during the last no tax weekend. Decent set no bells or whistles but works good.

That's amusing. I had to pop in to the local Superstore to pick up a few things, so I thought I would check to see what the LG 49" was. They had the 32", but no signs or stock for the 49".

While I was there, I noticed that they had the Toshiba 58L1350U for $799.88 until July 3 (reg. $848). Then I noticed that Trickman had already posted about it.

Here in the Maritimes, many Superstores don't have an electronics section any more. In my closest store (35 km away), the space has been turned over to Joe Fresh clothes and a cell phone stand. I don't see any electronics flyers available even for stores that do have electronics (like Main St Moncton.)

When I eventually buy a new TV, the Superstore offerings would have been a nice choice, since the sales seem to go deeper than places like Future Shop. My ideal TV would be 40" with 3 HDMI, component, VGA + PC audio inputs and an acceptable picture for under $300.

This week Superstore has advertised a 50" Toshiba L1400UC LED TV Full HD 1080p 60Hz Input for Music/Photo Playback for $648.00 and if Purchased on Friday June 27th there is no tax.

Does anybody own this TV? How is it?

Here is a link showing this model details: http://www.toshiba.ca/productdetailp...?id=2147498441

Too bad it isn't a Smart TV.

This week The Real Canadian Superstore is advertising a 58" Hitachi LED TV Full 1080p 120Hz HDMI x 3 for $748.00. No showing a model number in flyer.

Any opinions on this set. I don't think it is a Smart TV.

Why don't you buy the TV you want from another store and use your PC points for grocery shopping? Its the same thing as you are trying to do, just changing the distribution of funds. Points for shopping and cash for TV rather than points for TV and cash for shopping.

I am waiting for The Real Canadian Superstore to bring in some more 50" LG Smart TV's PB6600. I was in the store last week and they had none in stock.

Here's a link to the website http://www.lg.com/ca_en/tvs/lg-50PB6600-plasma-tv.

Yesterday I purchased The LG 50" Plasma Smart TV PB6600 using my pc points it was $598.00. I have set it up but I haven't checked out all the features yet. I have it installed to a Bell 4100 standard receiver. I am going to get a Bell HD receiver soon.

One thing I have noticed is that when the TV is turned off a red light stays on. It only goes off when you unplug the TV. I was looking for a way that the light would turn off without unplugging the TV.

I have a small red light on my Samsung TV that works the same way. It is red to let you know that the TV is off.

Even though that might seem counterintuitive, it would be distracting if the light was red when the TV is on.

My Samsung 50" Plasma PN50B530 TV I bought a few years ago has the red light as well. Never really bothered me.

What bothered me was the cheap TV I bought at the Superstore a couple years ago that whenever I changed the input, the screen would go all white for a few seconds.

If the TV is black, just put a small square of black tape over the light.
