New Channels always generate a lot of discussion so this thread is for discussing new channels in 2011.
You're welcome to speculate and discuss new channels coming to MTS in 2011 but PLEASE unless it's been confirmed by an official press release, be clear about what is speculation and what is fact.
A post saying "a CSR said it was coming" is NOT official, however, it does put it in the "highly" likely category.
If its posted on the CRTC site that its been approved by the CRTC but MTS has not said anything, I would consider that in the "not very likely at this time" category.
MTS TV customers score with TSN Jets Customers who subscribe to the season by October 31 will have chance to see a Jets game from the MTS private suite
WINNIPEG, Sept. 18, 2011 /CNW/ - MTS today announced that TSN Jets will be available to its MTS TV customers. The new channel will provide coverage of Winnipeg Jets 2011-12 home and away games.
TSN Jets will be available to all MTS TV customers on free preview until October 31, 2011. Starting Monday, October 3, 2011, MTS TV customers will be able to sign up for the telecasts that will continue after the free preview ends. These telecasts will be available for the remainder of the season for $9.95 per month. Between October 3 and October 31, 2011, customers who commit to purchase the entire season of games will have a chance to see a Jets game from the MTS private suite.
TSN Jets will be available in standard definition on channel 168 and for MTS Ultimate TV customers available in high definition on channel 480.
Winnipeg Jets games not carried on TSN Jets will be broadcast nationally on either TSN or CBC, both of which are part of the MTS TV basic TV package.

It sounds like Shaw was able to negotiate an extra month of free service from TSN. Maybe it was because they had more "clout", they probably negotiated cable and satellite at the same time and have subscribers outside Manitoba.
If channel 168 and 480 aren't in the guide for Ultimate TV, just reboot your PVR and STBs.
There is a Free Preview starting September 20 until October 31 to start the season so MTS TV customers do not yet have to take any action to get TSN Jets.
There were maybe two or three "digital artifacts" with a one-second drop on the HD feed, but other than that it was fine. I used to get worse with Shaw on any channel, so I didn't mind in the long run...
Wonder when we will get HGTV HD? I remember when it was promised to us in their package restructuring almost a year ago?? I should have kept the letter they sent
CoryB, Wild TV HD is channel 497. Most of the other channels you listed aren't available on many providers yet. This indicates the content owners are being very hard-nosed negotiators. Shaw Media just licensed a bunch of HD channels to Bell yesterday, so maybe things will start moving.
It has been a while since I looked but SportnetOne both in HD and SD seemed to be picked up everywhere long before MTS even got the SD feed.
I understand the negotiation side of things too as it is why TSN Jets is $10/month on MTS yet included in the basic service on Bell. MTS knows how to play hardball too, just ask any Telus Mobility customer about roaming on the MTS network when you go outside the city of Winnipeg...
