You're in a prime location for OTA... you should be able to pickup locals from Detroit and Toledo easily, with possibly Cleveland depending on the setup.
If you absolutely have to place the antenna indoors, definately do the attic install. Attics can be very tight and hard to get a combo antenna placed in the proper direction due to thier design. I'd maybe look at a bowtie design. (ChannelMaster 4228 HD or AntennasDirect DB8) Those antennas are more upright and may be easier to point in an attic. We don't have a ton of VHF channels around so either one would probably do pretty descently for the area.
Or, if you're a do-it-yourselfer, the Grey-Hoverman deisgns perform better if you have it in you to build one.
