How much could I expect to pay for an okay pre-amp? If its a couple of bucks might try it out...
Let's say a couple couple...couple of bucks >75$ <120$.
If you can find a winegard AP-2870 that would be perferct. And it has two intput VHF/UHF so when/if you get a real VHF antenna you will be ready.

Okay will try and re-aim my antenna this weekend (this time taking analog reception into account). I'm pretty sure I'm going to loose 22-1,2
That where a VHF antenna would be handy, they don't have to aim to the same location.

Whats the diff between the CM7777 and 7778? And between the winegard and the CM you suggest the AP-2870?

Any Idea where I can pick one up local? Or purchase on-line only?

Thanks once again.

digitalnewb, your questions are already answered in the OTA Forum. You can read about preamps (including direct responses to you) in this thread:

http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=42426

...and you can read about Quebec OTA gear sources in the following thread:

http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=51078

Please make use of the already existing info in the OTA Forum. This thread is only for Reception Results and very general questions in your area.

My Antenna was destroyed by wind a few years ago and my very old chanel master rotor doesn't work anymore. I want to know if it should be possible to receive digital DX station in the Saint-jean-sur-richelieu area (souht of montreal). I can receive all DT station for our market (even if half of the VHF antenna element is gone ), But if it would be possible to receive more DT station, like Ottawa or more US station I would really consider buying a new antenna and rotor.

My Tower is 30 feets high (but I have all the gear for 40 feets), my antenna is actualy an Radioshak Extreme range (320km vhf unknow UHF range) I have another antenna similar, but Radioshak antenna is not realy well build and broke frequently. Should I have a better reception with a dédicated UHF antenna like channelmaster 4228? Could I use my second radioshak antenna without the UHF part and use it with a cm 4228?

Other than SRC 2.1 CBS 3.1 NBC 5.1 CBC 6.1 ABC 22.1 PBS 33.1 FOX 44.1 PDB 57.1 I can sometime get WNPI 18.1 and the analog station will stop I think I will receive it properly (There is analog station on 23 that interfere. )

Unfortunately WNPI will most likely remain on 23 after the analog shutdown (see DTV Tentative Channel Designations).

That would be good, if WNPI stay on 23 I will most likely be able to receive it easily when the analog shut down.

I think we will have a way better reception of DT after the analog shut down.

I pickup some mysterious station since i've install a notch on ch 17 and ch 35. (two weeks ago, Before cross modulation of 17 and 35 were almost every where)

Got DT signal (~25%) on 26 DT.
Got some sign of a DT signal on 39 DT (0 then 100% then 15%)
Got Image and sound with very frequent break up (Actually more break up than sound and image) on 23 and 25 analog (23 Seem to be a FOX station and 25 Seem to be My Tv or Fox). On 21 I got ION network and on 16 some kind of relegious channel?

When i don't pickup anything on 23 analog I usualy have a good lock on WNPI.

All this to say that analog station even very far ca cause interference to DT station and when they will shut down our reception will most likely be better.

If the signal was analog, maybe you picked W16AL from burlington? The last time I have been able to reveive it it was affiliated to TBN (a religious network). It seem that this is possible to receive"DX" signal in digital, so maybe I will rebuild my antenna gear this summer.

I'm pretty sure you'll need an outdoor antenna to get any signal in your region. :(

No luck...The only one you migh be able (Very difficult) to pickup with a very good antenna would be WCFE DT.

Maybe Radio-Canada on channel 12 from Quebec City? Unfortunately you would have the video carrier of channel 13 in Trois-Rivieres that would interfere.

That is because it is an old-style analogue station. You are not close enough to any digital stations to get HD unless foxfan is correct that you might get channel 12 from Quebec City with a proper outdoor antenna.

Your RCA antenna is only going to get digital TV if you are very close to a station. Even if you were, I would recommend other antennas before it.
