St-Eustache

I have a UHF antenna that I built my self (I was not happy with my Radio Shack Pream antenna). The antenna is in the attic and it is hook to a distribution 30 db amp. (I can tune it) in the basement. I just hang to wire to have minimal VHF.
I will now try to build a VHF antenna for 13 and hope for the best.

2.1 (SRC) 80%
3.1 (CBS) 85 %
6.1 (CBC) 80%
13 (ABC) 25% to 30%
14 (NBC) 90% when it was testing
33.1 (PBS) 95%
44.1 (fox) 75%
57.1 (PBS) 80%

Any advise to build my VHF antenna?
Would a pre-amp make a real difference. (50 feets of RG6 between my anntenna and the Pre-Emp and then another 50 feet to the tv.)

My advice is to go with a well known antenna like the CM4228 with a good preamp and you will be certain to get excellent results.
Another reason I was thinking of trying a pre-amp is that my cable run on the RG6 is around 75' long. I've read that over 50' might cause an amp to simply boost interference/noise picked up by the cable from the antenna.

I'm not getting it either, but I am not receiving WFFF either (49% no lock) I plan on trying raising my antenna today to see if that helps

WCAX and PBS come in no problems

as I said a few posts up - I've got pretty much 100% on the other channels except ABC.. this morning .. Media Centre is flipping between one and two bars.. so I guestimate that's about 15%.

Pity.. I would have loved to seen Ugly Betty in full HD this week.

Letterman last night freaked me out .. I've never seen it so clear!

The antenna i build it my self, took me half an hours to build and an hours to tune it (doing round trip from the attic alway down to first floor where the tv is)... If you are interested in the detail, i could post them in OTA Antenna R&D/Build-It-Yourself Antennas & Gear. Basically i cut the attena to 216 mhz from there I tune it (Make it longer mm per mm) using aliminum foil.

I'm really not an expert but it work's.

Ok I post it in Built it your self...

Be patient with it, the signal can go from low to high just by moving sligly the elements...

I was playing with it last night and when I was touching the element the signal was 100% I guess i'm a very good VHF antenna

WPTZ is at low power, when they will be full power you will get it at near 100%

Ste.Dorothée (western Laval)

Ste.Dorothée (western Laval)... I receive Burlington 3, Plattsburgh 5, Vt ETV 33 and NY ETV 57... those are the analog numbers, but I receive the digital signals.... I cannot get anything at all on WFFF (Fox 44).

Also in Ste.Dorothée

I'm in Ste.Dorothée(adjacent Laval sur le Lac) as well and pick up WCAX, WPTZ and Mountain Lake PBS. I can get WETK PBS if I redirect my antenna but lose CBS&NBC. Fox comes in at 49-55% but I can't get a lock.

I will try to get my antenna higher, it's presently installed on my gazebo about 20' off the ground, but the houses in my area are twice that.

Also I will try a pre-amp instead of an amp soon to see if I can pick up FOX and ABC.

That sounds strange since WETK WCAX and WPTZ are coming form EXACTLY the same location. Mountain Lake is further wo the west. I am at Samson & Bord de L'Eau and luckily have no house blocking my system, but regardless of what I do I cannot get FOX. I look forward to hearing what results you have when you hook up the preamp.

That will most likely help a lot, it did for me taking the antenna from 25' to 40' made the difference between nothing and all chanel with a lock (ABC, CBC, NBC, FOX, PBS).

What kind of attenna are you using?

Some noname brand "Provo". If you look back at this posting it's there somewhere. If and when I raise it and and the pre-amp and still don't get the results I want (all US networks) then I will invest in a proper antenna.

I too have no line of sight obstructions directly from the antenna, but I assume that the added height can help.
