This isn't the doom and gloom (or the beginning of the end for CHCH as you said on another forum).
There's no need to abandon a valuable OTA license especially since it would open it up for a new competitor to apply to the CRTC.
Besides Niagara tried an all news cable only station and it failed miserably.
Channel Zero will still be providing MORE news coverage than is required by their license and with the CRTC allowing less daytime Canadian requirements this opens up a wide array of cheaper U.S. daytime programming to acquire compared to what prime time programming costs.
OTA Free: CBC, CTV, CHCH, PBS, PBS World, TVO, WNLO, Global, OMNI1, CityTV, OMNI2.
Premium TV: R2 DVDs (Cheaper)
