Newbie question about upgrading to dvr530

I currently have two older basic receivers with an eliptical dish. I'm thinking about replacing only one of them to a dvr530. I understand I need two cables to go to the dvr530. I guess I'm asking if I can just replace one of those old receivers with a 530?

There are NO NEW RECEIVERS coming out.
The current shipping units that take the new guide are just fine.

SOME had problems in the past with the last few code releases and are easily replaced by *C, both in or out of warranty.

Apparently not as the DSR prefix refers to ALL Motorola sat. gear, both residential and headend.

They also build gear for the global market and DVB, outside of Echostar and affiliates in N.A. is uncommon except for some small backhauls.

Generally DCII and PowerVu.
