Thanks for the list. Looks like CBC Ottawa is gone.

Yes, Jasper Joe, but you gain CBC News Network HD and CTV News Channel HD and you still have CTV Ottawa for your local news.

Yeah, you're right. But we always enjoyed Ian Black's weather forecasts - he's quite funny in a very dry way even when it's raining.

More importantly, my wife will have to find another channel to record Coronation Street!

We tune to CBC Ottawa because of Ian Black's professionalism and the channel is in HD. CTV Ottawa looks blurry - terrible quality.

California - San Diego F1/F2/G1

I hear that with the new TRIPLE QUAD XKU LNBF that most HD channels will moved to G1 from F1/F2 Satellites which means anyone in California-SD are toast?

What is the time frame for this to be completed and will SD be only available for current F1/F2 in California- SD?

What is the time frame for the F1/F2 to be decommissioned?

If the storm is coming, maybe I should back out of flying a bird on my roof?

Thank you,

There has been many posts about this here. There are only a couple signals that will end up on G1 Fashion tv in glorious Std Def and CTV2 - Alberta. If you are receiving the signal today in HD then you will have it once all the conversions are complete by the end of 2019.

Shaw Direct has this page up
https://www.shawdirect.ca/english/su...article/11268/

Shaw Broadcast that is charge of F1R/G1/F2 has more information here
https://www.shawbroadcast.com/Content/English/mpeg4.htm

Rather then all HD signals moving to G1 a few will migrate to F1R/F2. Not to say you won't lose some channels because if the HD version of the channel is on G1 then yes you will lose it once the Std Def version drops.

LONSat,

Thank you for the clarity and I have read thru many posts here to get a better future of the product.

I do not have my 75 inch dish yet with the xku LNB's. That will be next.

Thank you,

What’s your concern - satellite footprint reception, or if the channel is any good?

Shaw Direct is working with Winegard to ensure their dishes still operational for their Canadian resident subscribers, after all is said and done with the upgrades.

A bit spendy no matter what they do. Ridiculous price imnsho.
'working with' is a phrase in my 70 years that has often meant 'did not get it done but we tried'

It is interesting though that F2 / F1R are still up there, as their 2005 launch date and 15 year expected life would see them crash to earth next year.....no? I guess the original estimates were timid...

Not crash. Just not perform due to failures.
