Showcase looks funny tonite

Hi were watching Broadchurch on Showcase and it looks like a video not film. We switched to SD but it looked the same. Broadchurch has been on for a few weeks now but we never saw this before. Anyone else see this?

p.s. btw were using a 605 rcvr if that matters probably not.

I noticed that as well. All the other episodes from Season 1 and into season 2 had a 'film look' and that last episode had a decidedly 'video look'. Very strange. My gf noticed it as well (in fact she mentioned it first).

Noticed the same here - I'm a video producer so I don't see how that could be unintentional!? Looked awful!!

Hi everybody. thanks for your info. It must have been something wrong with that ep. We watched a couple mins of the next show on Showcase and it was fine. well I hope they fix it next week!

The first episode of S2 was like that. Not too much earlier I watched the last Hobbit installment in the HFR (High-Frame-Rate) presentation and it was the same -- the dreaded "soap-opera effect". With Broadchurch I'm not sure what it was, but probably not the source material -- they likely enabled some kind of motion smoothing. And it was back last night. Ugh.
