Entering the final Stretch of 2019 HD conversions and Anik signal moves

Next week, Sep 4th
Daystar and Family West convert to HD - on an F bird

Sep 18th, sees 8 HD conversions - all on an F bird
SRC Trois Riviere
CBC Charlottetown
CTV Saskatoon
CTV Kitchener
History West
YTV West
W West
Teletoon West

Sometime between Sep 23rd and 25th sees 18 HD signals move from G1 to F2 including
CBC News Network
CTV News Channel
TCM
Bravo
Discovery
Comedy
W Network
Family East and
a selection of locals from across the country
as well a few French specialities: ARTV, RDI, Addik, Le Canal Nouvelles and Teletoon French

And then Sep 25th
The final block of Std Def duplicate signals drop

CNBC HD a while ago was mentioned as a maybe for 2019 but there has been no word yet. Daystar was a late HD addition so there may be hope for CNBC.

2020 - the rest of the few std def channels?

Red face National Lineup / Zap2It.com

We use Zap2It.com to set up our recording schedule for the week. Zap2It screwed up the Classic listings, but I was pleased to see that they offer the choice of the new National Lineup.

I called Shaw and they switched our 2 receivers to the National. I see that Zap2It listings agree with what the receivers guide list for channel numbers. The Shaw PDF is inaccurate.

I think that I will be happy with the National Lineup, but Shaw should keep that PDF up to date.

Sorry, which PDF are you referring to? Do you have a link, or are you talking about the one that the agent emailed to you upon changing you over? I'd be happy to update anything out of date, but the new national lineup PDFs shouldn't have any issues at this point, so would appreciate a bit more info. Thanks!

Current National Listings PDF

The agent did not offer to email a PDF of the current National listing to me. I had difficulty locating a link on the Shaw Direct website that would lead to the listings. No problem locating PROGRAMING. I finally found this PDF via an internet search. The PDF is dated April 2019. It would have been a big help to have had the current listings.

https://assets.aws.shawdirect.ca/upl..._numerical.pdf

It would be nice if a link was provided on the PROGRAMMING page.

Will you kindly provide the URL for the current National Listings?

We have an Excel workbook I made many years ago that helps us create something we use to create/alter the 630 upcoming recordings. It relies on a worksheet that contains all of the Shaw Direct channel numbers to which we subscribe.

We laboriously transferred the Zap2It.com National listing channels into a sheet of paper (PDF to Excel eliminating all of the programming). We then went channel by channel via the Guide on the TV set.

We will contact Zap2It to provide them with the channels that are not on their National Channel listing. Not included are the US Networks on the Zap2It listing!

It would be a courtesy to Zap2It and Zap2It users if Shaw Direct would send them updated channel listings as they change as a routine matter - someone's job description.

I just checked zap2it myself it seems they are now only showing the west coast US Nets. I am sure the East coast Nets were there when they launched them a week or so ago.

@RuralRouter - this is the most up to date version (April 2019). The only difference in what I'm updating is the removal of IFC HD and CosmoTV HD, and the addition of Family West HD.

You can find comparisons to your old line-up, and the alphabetical listing here - https://www.shawdirect.ca/english/su...article/11498/.

I did send Zap2It everything they needed, but they didn't follow-up that it was completed, so I haven't quite had time to audit what they put up. I do know that the channels that didn't change numbering (Stingray, Radio, etc.) aren't listed either. It's on my list for this week to escalate to them all at once.

Thanks!

You deserve a raise in salary! Thanks for the URL

I did not know that Shaw Direct initiated information flow to Zap2It. Great News, now if they would just implement. They cover a lot of ground so I can't get on their case too much. I really like the service they provide.

Everything will straighten out in time.

You may want to update the channel names as follows as they take effect on September 12th.

Gusto -> CTV Life Channel
Space -> CTV Sci-Fi Channel
Bravo -> CTV Drama Channel
Comedy Network -> CTV Comedy Channel

I thought about updating the rebranded channels, as there's been a couple, but I'm worried that doing so will cause customer confusion as the names are so new. I'll likely do another update at the end of September to allow some time to get used to the new names.

I always think of my mother... she would immediately be looking for "Comedy" and upon not finding it, would call (me, albeit) to find out where it is, not knowing it's under "CTV Comedy".

Oh has your mother got the new National Channel numbers yet. I feel your pain in explaining the changes.
