Some people just don't care. My inlaws have Shaw cable. They are ok with RCA cables to their 50 inch HDTV rather than have to go out and buy an HDMI cable. LOL.

I bought my in-laws an HDMI cable and hooked up their HDTV properly.

My mother in law, who lives in an apartment building, has to have cogeco and refuses to watch anything with a three digit number channel. Which is where all of cogeco’s HD channels are.

Your Mother-in-law would not be happy with the new National Channel Lineup on Shaw Direct then, because the numbers start at 100. ha ha

Two more channels being killed by Corus, and they are on the F satellite, so I hope something good gets moved into their vacant transponder spots...

I wouldn't count on any channel moves any time soon. All the transponder moves have been planned a long time ago and cable headends no what the schedule is for the rest of the year. I also wouldn't count on anything happening next year either. The F birds will have lots of unused transponders by the end of the year.

This is a planned move to extend the life of the satellite because as they age the solar panels and/or batteries will not produce/store as much power so with many empty transponders there is not as much need for power required for the down link and enough to keep thrusters working assuming they are powered by the solar panels as well.

It’s always about the thrusters. Where’s Buckaroo Bonzai when you need him.

I called in about something else but let them switch me back to the National Lineup ... the VOD issues that I ran into before seem to be fixed with Crave and Superchannel but not the VOD for Starz. I have Starz networks with my Movies West package and normally have the west feed channels and VOD - but the VOD went away, now grey'd out saying unsubscribed.

That is no surprise. Cosmo and IFC have been dead channels for awhile. My guess is DejaView and CMT will be on the chopping block soon.

The downfall of these channels, specifically IFC, is that they have moved away from their mission. IFC used to show cutting edge stuff. It's crap now and I think that they even have filler infomercials part of the day. I guess that they don't bother looking at content and think people will watch pure crap.

The weird thing with IFC is there is original programming on the US channel but weirdly the licensing deal continued for Shaw/Corus but most (if not all) the original programming is on Bell Media owned channels.

I believe there is another set of channel migrations that are tentatively scheduled for early 2020. My guess is the traffic planning will be aligned to use the free space as a result of these channels shutting down.

This is not surprising as Cosmo and IFC were not given the "Shaw Blue Sky HD" treatment in Calgary when this enhancement of Standard Def to HD was enabled on their Blue Sky boxes.

Not sure which forum to post, but it's related to this forum. SBS stopped carrying WJBK (Fox Detroit) over a decade ago. Does anyone know how it is still available in places like Sudbury and Ottawa?

I'm about 80km from Ottawa and get Fox Rochester. The other US networks are from Detroit.

I'm assuming you are referring to Rogers customers in Ottawa and Eastlink customers in Sudbury? For most cable systems, signals are fed by fibre not satellite. That is how they have the full suite of Detroit channels including WJBK. The same is true for the HD versions of Spokane locals out west.
