Check your past bills. You might have been paying a multi-receiver fee of $5.99 a month if you had 2 receivers going before. This MRF is included in the high end package but most packages now will show a separate $5.99 fee if you have more than 1 receiver active on your account.

Yes, I was always paying the multi-receiver fee with 2 active receivers. As I should have. That is not an option. This being a "warranty" fee should be my choice. I will talk with them later.

New package?

Received a promotional ad in the mail offering a package called "Atlantic Indulgence" for $39.99 and regular price of 55.95 when the promotion ends.
Lots of channels similar to digital favorites. Presently have digital lite and thinking of obtaining the new package which is not published on the website.

Any opinions?

Cheers

That ad applies to new customers only, not current subscribers.

As a subscriber I received the offer at the end promotion price of 55.99 which is a saving from the digital favorites fee. Thus digital Atlantic indulgence is available.

Channel 105, Interactive Weather gone as of July 23rd 2014

Learned yesterday that Shaw's Interactive Weather (provided by Accu-Weather) Channel 105 is gone as of July 23rd 2014. The information on screen says you can get the weather from channel 096... The Weather Channel, or from a mobile app. For people who got 105 with LTSS, they will lose access to forecasts. According to a Shaw CSR I spoke with, it was because the vendor had severed ties with Shaw.

Does anyone know why the interactive weather is being cancelled, and what it may be replaced with?

Not a chance, you will still pay the same low rate.

I just wanted to clarification on this new rental program from Shaw. What happens if you return the receiver before the two years, is there a penalty/payout like cell phones. Are the receivers new or refurbished ?

I doubted that the interactive channel forecast was often updated, as a result I didn't look at the channel often. It was fun to see the forecasts for the USA and around world.

The regular Weather Channel has too much going on in the same screen. I would prefer a single screen with no boxes, scrolls, or other stuff.

The interactive weather channel was updated often by accu-weather and had a weather station only 10 kms, away. For my father in a very rural area, the Weather Network never mentions his area, and only gives weather forecasts for areas 100 kms away, hardly a replacement, so he will really miss it!

It is good to know that the weather is/was updated often. If I knew that, I would probably have used the interactive weather channel more frequently.

Maybe they can get a replacement service from another weather service; I hope so.
If they do, I hope that they timestamp the current forecast/conditions on the screen.

Found this interesting regarding the recently removed interactive weather:

https://twitter.com/ShawDirect_News/...25833122783232

Perhaps (more likely) it was removed as it wouldn't work with the new guide?

Yes, a possibility that it is not compatible with the new guide.

I noticed the the "Information" on channel 105 says that the interactive weather is no longer available on this receiver, so I called Shaw and the CSR stated that it is available on older silver receivers until November, unless the complaints continue. So call or contact and voice your concerns with Shaw if you want it to stay.

Can anyone confirm that the Interactive Weather is still available on older receivers as part of the programing package?
