found a DSR205

while cleaning out a tech closet, found a DSR205 in there. For some reason I thought I had swapped it out, but I guess not. It's deactivated from my account.
Can anyone tell me what it can receive? I know it's not HD, but have there been any changes to the SD system since this thing was current that would make it either a complete boat-anchor or useful in the garage with an old CRT, for example...
thanks

or - can it be used in the free over the air / satellite scenario?

It is a 2nd gen legacy, still on the first guide, but has tone generator.

It can get any SD QPSK MPEG2 (not 8PSK, not MPEG4), on F1R or F2. It can be mapped to work off of an X-Ku dish, or any previous one. I have a 315 (same hardware, more connections), in my hobby workroom, and it works fine.

On the classic guide, it gets most 300 through 700s. plus audio stations. It does not get the 8PSK/MPEG4 channels of recent years.

ah, right - 8PSK - forgot about that. OK, thanks. I'll rummage and see what channels in the SD band are 8PSK. Would make a fine garage/laundry room box, since I still have a couple of old CRT's kicking around

FREE receiver to anyone who can make use of it...

I don't think I'll ever use this DSR205 ever again - if anyone wants it then it's yours, no charge - you just pay the shipping.
I'll leave this around for a month, and then I'll have to bin it - too much junk in the tech closet

With what Shaw Direct will be up to the next few years, there is point, even for free. They may not even activate it.

I have a 27 inch CRT, four 505s, one 530, a Navigo 410 and an HD sidecar waiting to be picked up for scrap. Don't waste your time.

Not without under the hood reprogramming, if there is anything compatible.

It likely could receive ZK programming such as CTV2 Alberta and Knowledge, if they are still broadcast that way. Until those signals are pulled that is, and the V-code matches your dish.
