Shaw Direct web site:

With a new 600 series receiver and upgraded equipment, you get additional channels—plus access to streaming Shaw Direct On Demand and HD pay-per-view options. A new HD guide is also planned to launch later this year.

"later this year" is coming fast but it did say "planned" so it's not a definite.

Not clear from the appreciated pic, but I wonder if it will display more that 1.5 hours of programming? I just got off the phone with "enhanced" customer service about some other issues and after the "is there anything else we can help with?" comment I mentioned how much better the Bell guide was ... well, I could not get though to the agent how nice it was to have more than 1.5 hours on the guide. Finally I suggested she stop by a Bell store to have a look at what I was, apparently, completely unable to communicate. Her response was "I don't need to do that. I have the best satellite service. So why would I look at something inferior?".

Okay, glad they have the indoctrination program in full swing at Shaw corporate!

I'm new to Shaw - I've had Bell for years. The Shaw guide is far inferior to the Bell guide. It is the most annoying deficiency that I have to deal with every day. Search function and "Smart Record" is also very inferior. Having to run two coaxes for the dual tuner receiver was also an annoyance.

Don't be hard on me - I really REALLY want to like Shaw.

They do, however larger providers don't often bite as they want full control over the ecosystem.

Yes tell me about it. I am in Mexico and have no choice! Still the best available choice even with the lousy performance of search - I call it meets requirements circa 2005.

Any update at all on that guide? I keep monitoring their twitter and facebook but so far no mention. I wonder, would it be wise to ask in their chat on the support page?

CSR I asked this week about it advises employees are still testing it at home, and expects a launch sometime "in the Spring".
