Seems like somebody reads these forums! The OLN logo was updated and the CTV News logo reverted to the new version. CNN HD and BTN are still monochrome and WGN (SD) is still incorrect. These are not important issues, but attention to detail always shows.

Not so great new menu!

I posted earlier about how my elderly father hates the new menu. I tried everything, contacted Shaw Direct and was told that I had done everything possible to increase font size. Unfortunately, it is still too small. They also indicated that many seniors are unhappy with the new menu system. A local dealer told me the only solution is to get an older box that only shows the old menu system. That is what I have done.

I also emailed Shaw with these issues, suggesting a number of changes. They thanked me for the feedback & that they would work on the upgrades, but offered no time lines.

So I agree with earlier comments about the shortcomings of the new menu.

Thank you to the Shaw Direct employee who has been updating the guide logos. Nice to know somebody is paying attention to the small details!

Anyone notice that all the "v"'s in the program descriptions in the new guide are blue today (presumably for valentines day)?

Changing Channels while in System Status Screen

Not sure if this is common knowledge but just found it in a Shaw document I got in the in-box, so thought I would share;

Could you please re-post Allan B? I can't see the document / information to which you are referring. Thank you!

Allan B's image is working. Check your User CP >> Edit Options >> Thread Display Options and make sure "Show Images" has a check mark beside it.

I couldn't see anything either. After reading 57's tips, using shift and F5 brought up an image.
I knew about this feature and often use it to check signal levels.

Shame that they didn't implement "Now & Next" on the Info Banner, but the full-screen guide and other improvements are nice. Looking forward to this.

I agree the improvements are nice. The support for emergency alerts in this release has an unfortunate effect if two recordings are happening at the same time.

"If dual recordings are happening when an EAS message is issued for your region, one recording will be interrupted in order to display the EAS alert. Please note that the interrupted recording will not restart."

I read that as it will basically stop one of the recordings and it's done. Seems odd that it wouldn't just show up as a banner but it basically trashes whatever is on the second tuner.

I hope we can turn the notifications (started/ended recording) can be turned off. I dont want popups on the screen all the time..

I also wish they improved the algorithm to schedule shows to record.
It would also be nice if it would delete shows based on date and watched status.

Whoo Hoo update maybe tonight, wait to see how the new guide is, I hope one day they get rid of the double channels if not let you group all hd network together, sports together etc. I keep all the doubles just in case one channel has issues.

They are working on getting rid of the duplicates, so I have been told. I did ask about whether they will get a new guide to combine both classic and advanced but the advisor didn't know about that.
