I was about to start the download on my 630 but a warning came up saying that all the settings and recordings will be deleted with this upgrade. Can anyone who has upgraded their 630 confirm that all recordings are deleted?

My recording were all still there on both of my 630s after the update as we're all my scheduled upcoming recordings

Downloaded the new guide to my 630 last night but nothing for the 600's yet. I can wait until Thursday (going by what a previous poster said).

All my recordings, timers etc were kept intact and the actual download took 43:45 (I just happened to walk-in right as it reset).

Had a quick play this morning and have got it setup how I prefer (I dislike the stretch of SD content so reset that straight-away). It's pretty responsive and mostly easy-to-use. There's some brain / finger re-training to do but that won't take long. I wish there was the option of a mini-guide or quick bar as in the Shaw Cable boxes (http://www.shaw.ca/television/hd-guide/#browsing) but I'm satisfied overall. I really like the new PPV menu. I don't have my box hooked-up to my internet yet so not tried the on-demand but I figure it's similar to the PPV listings. I also like the fact that the Galaxie / radio channels are now shown in the EPG, despite their lack of program information. I note there's now no way of getting to the engineering screens (Options-4-9-7-7-1) which was useful in tuning.

Overall, I like it.

The Diagnostics screens are still accessible with the new guide. Just press Options-4-9-7-7-1 as you did before.

To the above review I’d like to add I've used the new guide for a month now and have found this firmware to be very stable with zero crashes or lockups on my 630/605.

Oh, great! - I'll give that another go when I get home. Perhaps I mis-keyed.

Any issues you've noted with pixelation? (I.E. - Have you noticed it to be better / worse on any channels). I know the guide software is probably not related to pixelation but you never know.

I haven’t had problems with pixilation for about a year now since I had a bad cable connector replaced outside.

Is this saying that the look ahead of 14 days on the old guide drops to just 2 hours on the new one?

Pretty sure he's saying the guide should display 3 hours. I agree. Nothing to do with look ahead.

Thumbs down Software update for enhanced guide

On the surface, this software upgrade seemed to be good. But there is a problem. Yesterday my wife was listening to music on Galaxie and the screen saver had come on to protect the TV. While the screen saver was on, an auto tune switched channels to her soap opera, but the screen saver stayed on, and she didn't know what to do to get rid of it. In the last version of the software, the screen saver would shut off when the auto tune changed channel. Today we made sure that the music was not on and the screen saver was not activated. But, when the auto tune switched channel, the screen saver came on again. We have a separate PVR to record shows when we are not here, so from now on we will only be able to record the screen saver with our show's audio in the background. This needs to be fixed!

I downloaded the new guide on my 630 PVR and it looks like you might be able to look ahead more than 14 days, in the near future. The days and dates go beyond 2 weeks now, but there is no data into the 3rd week, yet.
I was also happy to see that all recordings and settings migrated successfully to the new HD guide. I like the look of the new guide but my wife says she likes the old guide better. So I guess it may be a matter of taste, and getting used to something new.
