If you can use it with older model Shaw Direct receivers, it should work fine.

I have used my TiVo with my 505, but usually use it with my 315, which works slick.

Here's a post on the topic with all the links for DVD recorders, HTPCs, etc: It's in the Rogers forum but really applies to any STB.

None of this is really "easy", so I recommend a PVR. If you wish to record HD, see the Recording HD FAQ, which only really has one option - the Hauppauge HDPVR/HTPC combination. If you're happy with Standard Def, you can hook up a DVD recorder - see the DVD Recorder connections FAQ - complicated for most people, and then you'll need to set up the recordings on both devices, etc. Also, with some recorders you may run into copy protection issues. All of the links have been collected into the first post.
