current Shaw Direct receiver upgrade exchange promotions

as of Nov 2011, what have people been getting offered when exchanging DSR 505 units? For example, upgrading to DSR 605's or DSR 630 units.

It seems to change all the time, so I was wondering what they were offering lately for the holiday season, since the units are on sale at Future Shop etc.

thanks

sorry, forgot to add...what's the best way to get in contact with the secret 'other' level of customer service? Whenever I ask a CSR, they tell me there isn't another level.

Call and cancel your account - if you don't like what they offer switch to the Bell offer with the free rentals for 2 years. Sell your Shaw receivers. In 2 years, switch back as a new customer and get a deal like 630 + 2 600s for $225

ask for Customer Relations.

They typically are the area you get when you call to cancel to your acct.

wow - is that the deal you got when you signed up? how long ago was that? Hopefully I won't have to go to that extreme, but I understand that sometimes they won't budge otherwise

tvmaster, did you call? What did you get for an exchange?

The "official" trade-in program offers this:

DSR 600 - for $49.99 (you can trade any of your receivers for this receiver pricing)

DSR 605- $149.99 (you can trade any of your receivers for this receiver pricing)

HD PVR 630- $99.99 (trading in your HD 530 for this pricing)

HD PVR 630- $349.99 (you can trade any of your receivers for this receiver pricing).

Shaw Direct offers a maximum of two receiver upgrades in this program and the "upgrade" does not include a remote.

You should be able to get $50 in PPV credits to offset the cost.

cool - seeing that best buy is selling the 605 for 149, and the 630 for 299, I guess that's not much of a deal from Starchoice.
They are soooo out of touch with what's going on around them

I hope that's not the case. The last one I bought from them at retail was priced for anyone. How lame is it that those "new customer" offers still exist! Companies who value new customers over long-term subscribers really are out-of-touch.

I do believe that the BB sale on this week for the 630 is $299 for everyone ($100 instant credit). The new customer can get an extra $200 credits plus $50 PPV credit, for a final price of $49.99.

A new customer can also get a 600 for free after credits, $149 for everyone else.

On activation, they may swing the PPV credit if an existing customer askes.

OK I was wrong. 605 and 630 indeed on sale. New customer deals do make sense when you think about extra revenue from new customers and no extra from existing.

Think you mean the 605 for $149 the 600 is $99

They had the 600 on for $59 on cyber Monday but it was sold out when I looked and the store would not match.

530s are going for $85 on craigslist. 505s for $25. (Includes remote.) I guess Optik is having an impact.

fyi, Dell has the 600 for 50$ and 630 for 250$ today, better than any of those trade-in prices

I'm actually tempted to buy a second 630 for the basement, would be cool for those times I want to record three shows at the same time.
